Pattaya Immigration officers act on German Warrant to arrest a German fugitive hiding in Pattaya for 2 years

On 16 May 2007, at 04.30pm, Pol.Capt. Rote-Sak Naiphongsri (Deputy Inspector) with Pattaya Immigration officers, supervised by Pol.Col. Ithiphol Ithisarnronachai (Pattaya Immigration Superintendent) and Pol.Lt.Col. Thanaphat Promsuk (Inspector) led the police team to arrest Mr. Emil Bernnuer (68), a German citizen, residing at Pornpanit Apartment, Soi Naklua 27, Moo 5, Naklua, Banglamung, Chonburi.

He was charged with Pedophilia in Germany in 2005. Before his sentencing, Mr. Bernnuer escaped to Thailand. He was sentenced to ten months in prison with sexual offender counseling.

Pol.Col. Ithiphon declared that after receiving the notification from German Authorities and the German Embassy, they detained Mr. Bernnuer who is deaf and cannot speak and is a fugitive in Thailand. In addition, his visa has expired.

Police arrested Mr. Bernnuer and took him to police station. Mr. Bernnuer refused to cooperate, to look at the camera and also tried to bite a reporter’s and a police officer’s fingers. :D:o Police had to wait for him to calm down, and then proceeded to take a picture for the record.

Mr. Bernnuer will be delivered to German Authorities.

German Fugitive caught in Pattaya wanted on charges of sex with minors

Immigration Officers, acting on an arrest warrant issue by the German Authorities, arrested Mr. Emil Bernauer, aged 68, from Germany at an Apartment Complex in Naklua on Wednesday Afternoon.

He is wanted by the German authorities after failing to attend a sentencing hearing in 2005 relating to charges of pedophilia. In his absence he was sentenced to 10 months in Prison.

For nearly two years he has been on the run but he was known to be residing here in Pattaya. Mr. Bernauer who was also found to have an expired visa in his passport, was later handed over to German Embassy Officials who will deport him back to Germany shortly.
