BANGKOK (NNT) - The Thai Chamber of Commerce is now proactively helping with Bangkok’s COVID-19 vaccine rollout by scouting for potential locations and venues in the capital to set up vaccination centers.

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and the Thai Chamber of Commerce (TCC) yesterday inspected a temporary vaccination center run by the city at Wat Nimmanoradee in Phasi Charoen district of Bangkok, with the BMA’s Permanent Secretary Silapasuay Raweesangsoon and the TCC Chairman Sanan Angubolkul leading the inspection.

The TCC is now helping City Hall in choosing locations and venues to set up vaccination centers in Bangkok, in preparation for a mass vaccination drive expected to start after huge vaccine deliveries arrive in the next 2-3 months.

So far, private companies linked with the TCC have offered 49 venues and locations to City Hall, from hotels, to offices, and shopping malls. The BMA will be selecting the final seven venues from this list this month.

Venues selected as vaccination centers must be conveniently located with good access to public transportation and sufficient parking spaces.

The venues must be able to handle at least 2,000 people per day, have enough space to set up waiting areas with social distancing, be reachable by ambulance from local medical centers in an emergency within 10-15 minutes, and be well equipped with internet connections.

If successful, TCC’s venue scouting program will be extended to provinces beyond Bangkok, where businesses have already offered 234 locations and venues in many parts of the country to set up vaccination centers.
