There was 1 main reason I ever went to Pattaya: it's water park for my kid to enjoy.

There was no need to go that far but I did not know that. No any longer. This time, we went to BKK's own water park.

Found it 100 times bigger than Pattaya's, that much better and more of a variety. It's maintained and in much better condition than Pattaya's.

It's rather a theme park where they have jungle, waterfalls, north pole hangar with snow (visitors get eskimo-like scafander), amusement park.

Some pics from it's main feature - swimming pools (there is another one - like a stream that goes around but this much for now).

This pool has waves, water is pleasantly warm (my kid spent 6 hours straight in the water), clean and thousands of kids everywhere.

Google it and you will see more. Some web sites incorrectly say that admission is 400B for adults - it is 200B.

On the down side - selection of food available was shockingly poor. Chicken nugets and bad burgers. But no usual things like humble fried rice.

True, large restaurants were closed, don't know if it was only on that day.

You can get a yearly pass for approx. the cost of 2 visits. This includes not just the pool area, but also the rides there.

I would like to note however, that although there are lifeguards there, that it is advisable to keep an eye out when on the tube sliders. There is no system where a lifeguard signals you to go because the last person has completed the ride. I've been there a few times with my child (yearly pass), and each time there have been older kids in their teens clinging on inside the tubes at the corners. They've been holding on and chatting away on the slides, while others have had to slide around them - but this is at a bend where you can't see them until the last second. My 6 year old came out of it with a slightly black-eye, having tumbled into the knee of a teenager who then just pushed him out of the way. This wasn't a one off thing, and on each visit I have encountered people doing this. Each time I have gone to the lifeguards who would get them to come down, but by then my son was already hurt.

Other than that and the not so great food, there is plenty to do there, and beach chairs to relax on while the kids splash.

A-haaa…..I was wondering how thousands of people from that seemingly far from upper class suburb could afford it at 200/100B entry fee.

My wife also had some coupons from somewhere and entry was half price. Don't know then who pays the rack fee.

Great to hear. I took my kids there like seven years ago and we were hugely disappointed. Run-down, dirty, crowded. I am glad they have apparently improved. Might give it a shot again.... Thanks for the info.

That's what Pattaya's waterpark is like today. Even packs of stray dogs are roaming it, undisturbed.

But back to Siam park - if your impression was "run down" place, then they must have renovated it since your visit. Can't be so different from my impression, chairs looked new or newish and it was all clean. The part of the pool complex on the other side of the pic had hundreds of near new deckchairs, pretty much like that throughout.
