OP gotta be taking the mick. Any way MARMITE IS MY MATE!!

The OP is rolling in the isle laughing with some of these replies.

But, at least, I now know what it is & how to use it. If I see it again, I'll try a small jar, spread on toast in the morning. Maybe best to wait till badly hungover.

Tks for the info all :-)

VB or Victoria Bitter beer is rumoured to be flavoured with Vegemite hence the name 'V' for 'Vegemite' so there. No idea where to buy a bucket importing it in large containers is illegal because drug smugglers use it to hide prohibited substances in....it throws off the sniffer dogs.

I said, "Do you speak-a my language?"

He just smiled and gave me a vegemite sandwich

And he said,

"I come from a land down under

Where beer does flow and men chunder

Can't you hear, can't you hear the thunder?

You better run, you better take cover."

Western food forum as no self-respecting Thai person would eat this stuff...

But nice to watch them spring up and run for a glass of water.

Other uses - put into savoury sauces like chilli or spagetti.

oooh toastie maker! Havent had one of those for years.

Its one of those things you buy, make every filling variety you cant think up, then around a week later get sick of the sight of them. Maker then gets stored in the back of a cupboard until re-discovered many months later, where the cycle is repeated.

Vegemite is a Vegetable extract...Marmite is a beef extract..

Farangconnection has in fact destroyed all the Pommie Marmite in favour of Vegemite..

Yummie....

Hot toast, plenty of butter thin spread of Vegemite...keeps the heat-seaking-moisture-missile in good order, keeps mossies away, cures hangovers, makes Martin red in the face.

Marmite is a beef extract..

your thinking of bovril. Marmite is veggie.

Marmite ingredients:

Yeast Extract

Salt

Vegetable Extract

Niacin

Thiamin

Spice Extracts

Riboflavin

Folic Acid

Celery Extract

Vitamin B12

Vegemite's a lot more like a paste than marmite (which is relatively runny). Taste wise vegemite is more bitter apparently. Also, Marmite is apparently sweeter than vegemite, but vegemite is saltier than marmite. :o

The English make a watered down version called Marmite.

That's to get you back for watering cold tea down and calling it beer. :o

Thats an amazing statement coming from a soapdodger, you guys put cat's p!ss in bottles or kegs, heat it up and call it beer. :D:D:D
