Nineteen out of 77 provinces in Thailand have now put in place voluntary curfews, to contain the spread of COVID-19, according to the CCSA and the Interior Ministry.

People in the provinces have been asked to stay home during the curfews hours, which vary between provinces, to suit their respective requirements:

Northern region:

Phrae province, from 11pm to 3am.

Central and eastern regions:

Chai Nat, Nakhon Nayok, Nakhon Pathom, Phetchaburi, Samut Sakhon and Suphan Buri from 11pm to 4am.

Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani and Samut Prakan, from 9pm to 4am.

Northeastern region:

Bung Karn, Chaiyaphum, Yasothon and Nong Khai, 11pm to 4am

Southern region:

Trang, Yala, Ranong, Songkhla and Surat Thani, from 10pm to 4am.

Leaving home during the curfew hours is permissible, if it is necessary and unavoidable.

Likely too little too late. A country wide deep lockdown is probably needed to short circuit this wave. The COVID won't be stomped out until a high percentage of people are vaccinated

What good are curfews except in BKK?  Most places have so little open after 8pm a curfew adds nothing.

Open more places - restaurants, coffee shops, breakfast places - and impose strict limits on people sitting inside and outside.  Get the police to do checks in their districts ... what else are they doing these days???

Keep the Thais working as much as possible so they can take care of themselves.

Who decides if it is necessary and unavoidable? The governor? Local rozzers? Courts? Probation service?

Surely, if it's 'voluntary' then it isn't a curfew.

Curfew yourself or else...

I'm pretty sure what they meant was that it was not ordered by the central government but was ordered locally by each province, hence the different times in different province. So it's not a suggestion to stay home during curfew hours. It's a must.

Makes little actual difference.

Anyone drove thru ex.  Chaiyaphum at night, after 9 pm all life seize in villages anyways, if not earlier.

Those farming folks sleep with the chickens, hardly anyone up 11pm, lol.

Lol!  I remember visiting on old friend in Pichai many years ago. He described it as "very rural" ????

At 9PM the main water pump went off, so everyone had their vats filled for the night. At 05:00 all the farming folk were up and at it, the rooster having done his job.
