DETERMINED WOMAN CHASES CAR THIEVES; THIEVES OVERSHOOT A CURVE AND OVERTURN

Three men stole a car to show off to girls. A female car owner was determined to chase them until reaching the curve. The thieves lost control, causing the car to overturn before they were arrested.

On the 20th May 2007, at 1:00 am, Pol.Col. Nopadol Sorasamran. Superintendent Banglamung, Chonburi, was requested by the Police Radio Center, Phutalueng, Sattahip, Chonburi, to block the road in order apprehend the robbers of a Bronze Honda City automobile, license 9029, Bangkok, at Navy Base Apartment, km marker 9, Phutalueng, Sattahip, Chonburi.

The owner of the car was Miss Chaweewan Peamsagna or "Nooch", 35, who is a staff member of Cup Thailand Company, Ltd., located in the navy base, Rachanawee Mahidol, Sattahip. Miss Chaweewan, with her boyfriend, were close behind, chasing the criminals on Road No. 331, coming into the Banglamung area around Road No. 36 Baan Pong-Khao Mai Gaew. Pol. Col. Nopadol suddenly ordered patrol officers with Khao-Mai Gaew volunteers to block the path of the car thieves.

The stolen car was driven to reach the bridge around the junction of Road No. 331 and Road No. 36. Police waved at the suspects to stop the car, but the driver sped up to escape. The car went out of control, overshooting the curve and overturned, somersault- style, coming to a stop in the middle of the road. The car was severely damaged. The three robbers scrambled out of the wrecked car. The victim of the theft had followed closely behind the stolen car.

The driver who stole the car was Mr. Chaiya Jaroensuk or "Tom" (18), address No. 13, Moo 6, Cheka, Nongkai Province. The other two men in the gang were Mr. Kittiwat Ritsornthanu or "Add" (29), address No. 194, Somdet-Chaopraya, Kongsarn, Bangkok and Mr.Chaweang Konchom or "Tum" (20), address No.191, Moo 11, Chieng-Yuen, Mueng, Udonthani Province.

Mr.Chaiya or "Tom", the driver, confessed that he knows Miss Chaweewan, the owner of the car, very well as she is his sister's friend. Furthermore, she was working in the same department as his sister and living at the same apartment, as well. Previously, he had stolen a gold necklace in Miss Chaweewan's room and pawned it to get money so he could go clubbing. Miss Chaweewan left her room and car keys with his sister.

He stole the car key and took the car to go out in order to show off to girls around the restaurants. When Miss Chaweewan discovered that the car had been stolen, she followed him in order to retrieve her car. Instead of giving the car back to Miss Chaweewan, Mr. Tom drove away. Then, the police reportedly blocked his passageway until the car overturned.

At that point, he was arrested. Subsequently, police made a daily report and contacted the police from Phutalueng station to take him for legal action.
