My wife doesn't like my bad body odor (BO).

Where I live the days are hot and I refuse to spray chemicals under my arm pits or use a roll on device. I consider myself to be on a permanent holiday here in thailand (retired) and therefore only use roll on anti perspirants on official (special) occasions. I think its unhealthy to use it everyday.

My wife thinks its revolting and is complaining a lot. I think Thai's are quite particular about bad smells. She will not even kiss me unless I have brushed my teeth.

Is anyone else have this problem with their wife?

cheers

Yes, please stay locked up in your bathroom and only come out when you're freshly showered.

Many Thai women are like that. Maybe their upbringing in a hot climate.

Maybe try showering more. Could be some foods you are eating or even the detergent you use for laundry.

Best do something about it or you might be looking for a new wife.

Try "LUSH The Greeench" powder. Amazing stuff. Developed in the U.K., manufactured in Japan, if I remember correctly. There are LUSH shops in some of the Terminal 21 shopping centres, otherwise you can order it online,

"She will not even kiss me unless I have brushed my teeth." That says it all. If you are not bothered to take care of your oral hygeine and armpit odour before kissing and cuddling your wife(or for that matter, at any time), I really pity your wife. No wonder many Thai girls think that farangs shower only once a few days, whereas they shower few times everyday.

"East is East and West is West, the twain shall never meet" It is inconceivable for people here that anyone can feel normal or hygenic without a shower in the morning. Just as they feel that is is disgusting & unhygenic to wipe ass with tissue and feel normal and hygenic like in the west.

Hello, maybe tell her how she smells down there after eating somtam ?

Check out alum. No more need for deodorants!

Alum, in its various forms, is commonly used as an astringent and antiseptic. This is the main reason why it is used to inhibit body odour when used as natural deodorant.

Thais use water to wash their ass, so i doubt somtam may have such an effect.

Absolutely! Many Thais use alum and it is natural, exttemely cheap and very effective. Use it only on the armpits, after a good shower.

I actually feel sorry for any wife - or partner-  that has issues with the BO and oral smells of their other half. How do you think they feel going out with you if you stink ? You think it makes them feel good  ? Thais care about what people think of them, and turning up with mr or mrs smelly is not making them look good.

My wife tells me I smell occasionally, it's Thailand, its hot, I can understand it.I am not offended. I tell her her breath smells occasionally. We both care enough about each other to do something about it and not be selfish. Who wants to snuggle up to Stig of the Dump at night ?

I shower twice or even three times a day if hot, but always morning and before bed. I have terrible teeth but still clean them probably 4 times s a days (meals etc).

I think i would be ashamed to have 'he stinks' as the reason for a divorce petition

It is not just your wife that doesn't like it. She is just the only one complaining.

AS the great philosopher Redd Foxx said:  "You got to wash your ass."  Got to.

Showering and using deodorant go without saying.

Exercise. Building up a good sweat at least 3 times per week will improve your general body odor.

Alternatively, use a sauna.

Upon waking, swoosh with water and drink a pint of water to rehydrate. After eating your morning meal, floss and brush. Be sure to brush the surface of your tongue a bit too.

Drink water throughout the day and try to stick to 3 meals rather than snacking. Have a quick floss and brush after each meal.

Be aware that eating strong flavors or dairy will affect both the smell of your breath and your body odor. Adding fruits and greens vegetables to your diet helps.

Not excreting regularly, preferably at least once per day, also affects your body odor. If you are frequently constipated, try to reduce dairy and increase the roughage in your diet, especially fruit and veg. Again, staying hydrated helps a lot.

All of this may sound like a lot of effort to go to but it isn't just about keeping others happy. Smelling bad is often a sign of poor health. Everything I have listed above will improve your general health, reduce your medical/dental costs, and make you feel a lot better.

If you find it boring to spend time in the bathroom, get into the habit of listening to podcasts or music while showering etc.

Even on an anonymous forum I would be too embarrassed to admit this.

I can honestly swear on my life, that I shower at least three times a day and my oral hygiene is bang up there with the best of them.

Brought up poor, but in a house where cleanliness is next to godliness.

I then went in the Royal Navy as a kid and it was exactly as how I had been brought up, so I was off to a good start.

Honestly what a steaming pile of horsecr**p....

Smelling bad is all about not showering enough. Period.

If you don't wanna use deodorant because of some conspiracy theory and thus you think it is bad for your body. Fine, then you will have to shower 3,4,5 times per day. And you will still perfectly.

I use deodorant myself, and yet I still need to shower at the very very least 3 times a day.... Every time I go out, I swear. It is normal, Bangkok is too hot.

Water and soap = Good smell. It's the only way. Not eating freaking vegetables. Might help, but won't do anything on its own.

Serious question: Are you drunk-posting right now?

Your 4 posts so far in this short thread have added nothing useful but you have suggested that the OP is a pig, and made a side-comment about the French. You also felt you had to inform @RichardColeman that you "have a tendency to dislike" his posts before grandly announcing that you would, on this occassion, bestow upon him a Thanks emoji.

Now you are launching a self-contradictory attack on my post, claiming first that smelling bad is only about showering ("Period"), but then saying that diet "might help".

My motivation for posting a list of ten things that will all contribute to improved odor is that I want to help another member of this forum.

Your motivation, on the other hand, appears to be all about you, as you swing wildly between fauning and attacking, while making no coherent sense. Again, I believe you are drunk-posting. Nothing wrong with getting drunk occasionally but you should have more class than to inflict yourself on others while in that state.

You should point out the advantages to her.

  • You ensure that social distancing is maintained around you so protecting from COVID
  • You help keep the flies away from the Shrimp Buffet
  • You are unlikely to be put in the back of a police car or kept in a police cell
  • There's little chance of you cheating on her
  • Taxi's will take the shortest route to their destination to end the journey quickly
  • Supermarket queues will just melt away in front of you
  • You will encourage the use of facemasks in your community
  • You will get a table by yourselves in a restaurant

And so many more.

It's so easy just to see the negative side of poor personal hygiene...

Cleanliness is next to boringness.

Dude, if you won’t take care of your health, shower often, brush your teeth, use antiperspirant/deodorant, or otherwise attempt to keep your wife happy, perhaps it’s time to lather yourself up with some fresh durian. It may be your only hope to save your marriage.

I do not think my posts are bashing the people of Thailand. 99.9% of everybody's posts on here (like mine) are not aimed so much at the people of Thailand but the people steering the good ship Thailand in completely the wrong direction, whilst apparently have absolutely no common sense themselves. There is a very significant difference in Thai bashing of people (of any country) and governments..

Maybe Op, is an old Russian guy, !!!!!!!!! LOL.
