The government seem to have come good on their promise of discounts on power bills.

Got our PEA bill yesterday.

Consumption 1103 units, billed for 1004 units.

Hells bells Crossy, what you got at home, an engineering workshop?

Got our bill, highest bill for more than 3 years, 791 baht, after discount just over five hundred baht.

  • Popular Post

I was just wondering what he's gonna spend that huge family saving discount on ?....toilet paper?

Ok lads, big party at Crossy's house tonight!

????

Well, looks like we got one too ! ????

No discount on our bill but is much less than yours. It is exact same amount of usage and for the amount to be paid on the bill.

It was a little confusing since the receipt for the online payment done for last month attached to the bill and the new bill were exactly the same.

Ours is due any day now, but we use considerably less power than you, like half.

Does it come with 4 free straws or only one?

Got mine yesterday.

Consumption 304 , paid for 238  !!

The 238 being exactly as my April bin as stated in another thread .

WIth the current hot spell and long hours of using the air-cond, this news is most pleasing.

What are you not using?  LOL.

For me, my last bill was 479 units, dropped to 417 to match last month.

PC @ 200watts for 5 hours per day = 30 units/month.

AC @ 1500 watts for 2 hours per day = 90 units/month

Fridge freezer @ 100 watts for 24 hours per day = 72 units/month

There's almost 200 units already without fans, showers, TV, lights.

An AC takes at least 1kW/hour.so 12 hours x 30 days = 360 units.

Not in our house it doesn’t ????

Surprisingly, our use of A/C seems to have very little influence on our electric bill. The man comes around on the 19th, so our bill covers the period of the 20th of the month until the 19th of the next month and these are the numbers for the last four months:

January-February, zero A/C use, consumption 299 units

February-March, 7 hours A/C use, consumption 362 units

March-April, 111 hours A/C use, consumption 367 units

April-May, 103 hours A/C use, consumption 372 units

Our bill goes up in the hot season, but it seems to be more about our fridge and freezer working harder than out A/C usage.

Given the frequency with which the PEA seemingly get a kick out of playing silly b***ers with the electricity supply round here (by pulling the plug for a couple of seconds, thus meaning that our wifi modems, TV set-top boxes, aircons, etc need to spend what seems like an eternity in rebooting after the electricity has come back on), I think that the very least they can offer us by way of compensation for the inconvenience is a discount!????

Edited by OJAS

No discount here and I didn't expect one either.

You should close the doors and windows when all your aircons are running full speed or are you cooling down the swimming pool area too?

Our bill just arrived total bill b3346 discount  b123.79 ????

You are lucky. I just checked on my power consumption meter, and each one of my four recently cleaned Mitsubishi 12000 BTU Mr Slims (non-inverter) , takes well over 1500 watts on automatic setting. Will have to do further investigation!

A conventional A/C will draw (very) roughly it's BTU rating / 10 W when the compressor is running, so 12,000 BTU would draw abour 1,200W. Your units do seem a little thirsty (are you measuring VA or W?).

Anyway, unless they are seriously under-sized or you keep pet penguins the compressor should be running about 30% of the time so that 1,200W (1.2kW) would translate into about 0.4kWh per hour of useage.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

our bill 641 units used, charged for 599, total bill 2,535,  apr units 556, mar 442, feb 297, jan 330, dec 384, nov 388, 1 x chest freezer, 2x fridge/freezers, 1 x aircon every night set at 23, 2 x laptops running most days, aircon in living room as required when too hot.

we have an unoccupied rent house 1/2 the size of our single story house, units used 37 units charged 32

only a fridge/freezer running. ( will have to turn it off)

all discounts are welcome., would be nice if no vat was charged on electric for homes,

While on the subject of PEA, their Smart App seems to be up the Swannee.

I have used it successfully for over 6 months, easy to pay the bill via Banking. This week I opened it up and it said there was an upgrade, so I clicked YES. Got one of two messages, either my phone is not compatible (Huawei on AIS) or not available in my country, (I am in Thailand).

Went to local PEA office where a techie first uninstalled the app, then could not find it in Google Play Store. Tried to install on a 'blank' Samsung with the same results.

A student in the office then came to tell me that the upgrade is no good and will be sorted in the coming weeks. I asked if this meant that no-one in Thailand can use the app, to which I got a giggle.

Has this happened to any members on here?

Just got our bill.

No discount at all

Guess I am not a Thai Visa Mod. ????

Looks like this month we used less units than last month.

A strange way to calculate discounts.

Would it not be easier and fairer to just knock a % off the total?
