In all civilized countries the current rules are published, in a multitude of languages, in various well known media. In Thailand it's in Thai, If you can find the original source of the information.

 

Any important messages in Thailand should at least be published in Thai, Lao, Cambodian, Myanmar, Malaysian and English language. Most European countries publish everything in 15 to 20 languages.

What are you talking about?   Covid restrictions that relate to these Britons covering closure of bars and banning of the sale of alcohol has been widely reported in all the English language media.

I feel sorry for Thai restaurateurs, especially those aimed at farang. They make most of their profit from expensive alcohol like wine. I can eat a meal at 6pm but cannot enjoy it with a glass of wine. If it stops people gathering that is less customers for the restaurant, this could be imposed from say 8 or 9pm to stop parties being held. No one will come for tourism from farang countries if they can’t have a beer or glass of wine with a meal. Less restrictions in Dubai and that’s a Muslim state!

Another report I read said they were getting charged for congregating in a group of more than 2 people. Didn’t realise that was illegal at the moment ?

As for them breaking the law drinking , yes they were and got caught but as someone pointed out the other day there are people walking along beaches selling drinks to people on the beach and if you really wanted to you could catch a lot more people drinking in bars and places on the beach all around the island. ????

The bars can not serve alcohol. My guess is that one of the oldies have an interest in that bar. Then sitting there and two friends comes along. Its easey and <deleted> happends. Could have be me. But the law is the law. Stupid yes..

Did it also say that all of the murders, assaults, rapes etc were completed attended to freeing these police to spend their time looking at people drinking inside a bar and a beauty salon?  

The point is there has to be duties more vital to the public safety than expending time arresting 3 old men who if they were endangering anyone, they were endangering themselves.  As to that risk, you have 3 friends who likely spend time together outside of the bar.  I would view their risk of contracting covid inside the bar is far far far less than the shopping at Makro, Tesco or Big C surrounded by hundreds of people. 

I am not saying the police should not have ticketed them.  However to somehow take their pictures inside a police precinct and proudly showcase their arrest seems to be beating ones chest for something pretty insignificant. 

Additionally, if these same three men were sitting in the same bar and enjoying a soft drink, iced tea, and a glass of water, they would not have been arrested.  

That just demonstrates how arbitrary and ridiculous the ban on alcohol is. The only thing it is really accomplishing is putting the bar owners and restaurants into insolvency.
