What do you look for in a Thai Woman?

It's all in the personality. Caring, calm, empathetic disposition and slow to anger. Realistic life ambitions. Someone who supports you and doesn't drain you and genuinely cares about your happiness as well as her own, in short, she thinks of you as well as herself.  Stable girlfriends. University education so that you can converse at a reasonable level with good english language skills. Emotionally and financially independant and stable family, not rich but not poor, with no hitchhikers. After many tries I have pretty well found most of the above. In regard to my darling, and as the french would say, "Je suis contente."

 1. Must be well educated, preferably bachelor/master/Phd.
Nope.  But she's clever.
2. Has a solid circle of friends who are similarly educated.
Nope.  But they make money.
3. Has a stable job on a decent income.
Nope.
4. Does not hang around in bars in her spare time.
Yep.
5. Has never been and does not mix with bar girls or prostitutes.
Yep.
6. Enjoys similar kinds of food as I do.
Nope.  I like some Thai food, but she doesn't like Indian food.
7. Has a decent taste in music & films and/or is willing to learn about them if she doesn't know much.
Nope.  Well, she does like 1940/50/60 American movies.
8. Does not have any psychotic brothers that sleep with a pistol under their pillow.
Yep.
9. Is calm and affectionate and does not fly off the handle every time I spill beer on the couch.
Nope, if I don't spill too much.
10. Has a great smile.
Sometimes ... but I don't know what she's thinking when she's smiling watching the old Alfred Hitchcock movies about wives murdering their husbands.

But after 42 1/2 years of marriage I really don't worry about it.

You put that well.

I especially liked your replies to 1 and 2.

Willingness to have sex with a fat, bald white guy 40 years older than her for very small amounts of money.

6. I've never found any Thai woman who likes Marmite on toast.

7. I quite like morlam, so that isn't a problem.

10. They all have great smiles.

LOL. Just about any long term Thai bargirl can converse in English, despite never having attended university.

Strange, IMO, how some believe that a university "education" is essential to a good life when the world is full of graduates that spent 3 years getting boozed, <deleted> and ended up with a waste of time piece of paper that is only good to work at 7 11 or some equivalent.

It depends on wether you wish to converse about which bourbon is best or thermodynamics and global warming.

You better hope that she doesn't have a serious traffic accident, stroke or heart attack then. No guarantees she'll still be around when you get that decrepit.

Have you got a plan B?

Usually they don't stick around for that bit.

My wife certainly wouldn't. She got PO having to drive me to the hospital everyday after an accident. I couldn't even imagine her doing any personal cares for me.

That's when I started to realise that perhaps staying married to her might not be a plan A.
