Suspected thief killed as he attempts to escape.

Police Sub-Lieutenant Jirasak from Banglamung Police Station made his way to the notoriously dangerous Highway 36 in the early hours of Tuesday Morning after receiving information of a fatal road crash.

Arriving at the scene, he inspected the body of Khun Sarat aged 55 and quickly realized that this was far from a straightforward accident. The chain of events leading to his death begins with a road accident involving a single vehicle driven by Khun Suraporn.

She crashed her Mitsubishi Cyclone Pick-up after losing control of the vehicle. As she lie injured in her pick-up a man approached and offered his assistance. This was Khun Sarat who then allegedly stole 20,000 Baht in cash from Khun Suraporn who was unable to stop him due to her injuries.

Others who saw the accident soon arrived and Khun Suraporn informed them that Khun Sarat must be detained. He attempted to run away but was hit by a fast approaching pick-up; a Nissan Frontier driven by Khun Ruengchai aged 40 who remained at the scene to explain his side of the story to Police.

Further investigations are taking place and no charges are expected to be brought against the driver of the vehicle that killed Khun Sarat.
