● 91 prison / prison infections

Monday’s cases bring the total number of COVID-19 infections in Thailand to 179,886 with 1,269 deaths.

Makes us all wonder I think. Especially when we are still getting reports of people having to wait days for test and dying a dew days later. There have been a few of them in the last few weeks and those are only the ones that the press have picked up. How many more go unreported daily of people having to wait for tests for days. Testing is a big problem.

I also wonder about the death numbers.

The somewhat optimistic impression that Thailand will succeed in containing Covid until the relay of vaccine protection.

I think the pandemic is all about perception now. Hopefully the next 6 months can see good numbers in the mass vaccination in Thailand but the US for example 5 times as big still has 20,000 cases per day and around 550 deaths 7 day average. Around 50 percent full vaccination and 62 percent at least one dose.  Above that we hit the resistance refuseniks which is unfortunate  but any sense of emergency is over.

Covid cannot be really contained maybe for decades, only managed. Until that translates to Asias countries look forward to largely closed borders.

The information in that link just demonstrates the mess that Thailand’s vaccine program is in.

4 vaccines listed, only 2 marked as available, except we know that in many cases even those two are not in fact available. To be fair it lists a few Bangkok hospitals which may have some vaccine, but almost certainly they will run out on day 1 or 2.

and then the registration system is being updated, so you can’t make an appointment, so register after 3pm.

and they had 3 months to prepare for this fiasco. SMH.

Based on past track record, tomorrow should be “spike day”. Interesting to see if that is the case or not.

If there is a spike tomorrow, it will definitely have something to do with a weekend backlog. Maybe the labs don’t process weekend samples until Monday.

That won’t stop some people from claiming that an artifact of the work schedule is instead a sure sign of a coming apocalypse.

Yes, that’s the generally agreed upon reason for the spikes. If it happens again tomorrow, then the situation is continuing to deteriorate somewhat.

Chonburi cases show a slow decline, a daily random walk, with occasional punctuation as clusters in factories are discovered.
