Any chicken you buy is likely CP produced and CP feed and sometimes CP branded for the end buyer, they own the whole vertical and pretty near dominate. Even if you buy from the little old lady at the end of the village road and is spread out on a table with CDs or coat hangers, it was probably in a 10kg sealed CP bag prior. 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Hello I regularly buy (every week) boneless chicken breast and I cannot remember having that at 45 bahts per kilo for a LONGGG time.. it is always around 54/56/58 either in Makro or in Big C In Big C what has increased A LOT recently are the imported products (french Casino sausages, parma ham etc... etc..) minimum 25 and very often 30 to 40% increase, same with the cheese but increase around 20%.. An italian shop on Sukhumvit (close to Jomtien) sells high level San Daniele ham they cut in front of you for less than 50% under Big C price !! Not so, totally erroneous to equate chicken flu in Japan and S Korea as the reason for increased local costs. . Thai domestic chicken prices are not affected by exchange rates, exports are and hence with the THB weakening the last month or so exported chicken prices are more cost to the importing countries. Totally irrelevant to the chicken price in Thailand which increased due to the CP factories closing as I already posted. Now that they are back to near normal production the price has reverted.
