The company under discussion is CP. They employ many very clever marketers and business development people.

Like any successful business anywhere in the world they don't reduce their prices because processing / operating costs have reduced.

I was suggesting that there wasn't much in the way of competition.

Maybe it is true that CP has chicken monopoly in Thailand, would explain things.

But how is chicken monopoly possibly? Cannot any Thai who owns land grow chickens? Need license to set up factory farm that only CP has, or so?

It's not a monopoly. There is Betagro and one of the first exporters of chicken, Saha Farm Company, amongst likely other smaller producers.

You should do some research if the subject interests you.

either you have some serious financial issues when complaining about price of chicken, or your life is so problem free that you look so hard that you get stuck on chicken price

Never made that comparison, good tip ! Ditch the canned give 'em cooked.

We have 6 adult dogs and 9 puppies, raising them to sell, we buy about 10kgs of chicken carcases from the butchers everyday....around 350-400 baht.....they know us well, and save the good parts for us - we boil them down and mix with Rice and Carrots and any other vegetables we happen to come across (Cheap as chips) Of course we contribute to the air pollution because we cook outside the house and use wood for BBQ fire, but good hard wood burns clean if you do it right. Peace

I am responding to other posters claim monopoly, and ask those posters about their claim, like "conversation" of some kind, though in fact, maybe you are school teacher and this is class room ?

Maybe you should quote them if you wish to converse with them... Otherwise anyone can chirp in, which obviously confuses you.

it is true that some people are chirps, like bird or broken fire detector, and this cannot be helped...

I am told that rat (where and when available) is now 300 baht a kilo off the bone. Up from 250. I am unable to confirm the veracity of this.
