TEENAGE GANG ATTACKS AND ROBS TOURIST ON PATTAYA BEACH ROAD

Eight drunken teenagers commit a crime by attacking and robbing a tourist on the beach in Pattaya. Police arrest the whole gang.

On the 23rd May 2007, at 3:00 am, Pol.Lt.Col. Santi Chainiramai, Inspector, Pattaya, with a team of police officers and police volunteers, went to investigate an incident of assault and robbery on Pattaya Beach Road, opposite Soi 11, Nongprue, Banglamung, Pattaya. They found Mr. Antonio Caretta, (58), a tourist from Italy, who was waiting for help. He appeared to be disheveled and had bruises on his arms.

Mr. Caretta, said that he was strolling along Pattaya beach, when he came upon a group of eight teenaged boys and girls, who were drinking and singing on the beach.

Suddenly, he was attacked and his 24 gram gold necklace was snatched. The gang then ran away across the road to Thip Plaza. Police immediately rushed to Thip Plaza and managed to catch five of the teenagers.

They all denied any knowledge of the attack. Police took them all to the police station to record their information. They were all tested for drugs and two of the boys tested positive.

Later, police found a suspicious man, Mr. Tosaporn Phintunibart, (20), address 47, Moo 2, Hin-gnorm, Sarng-kwam, Udonthani Province. He was hiding in a restaurant near the incident. Police searched his shoulder bag and found a broken gold necklace inside. Mr. Caretta identified the man and confirmed he was the one who attacked and robbed him.

Mr. Tosaporn said that he used to work as a delivery boy at a beverage shop, but was fired because he is addicted to ya ba (methamphetamine) Now he is jobless and usually gets together with his troublemaking friends on the beach. Before committing the crime, he and the gang were drinking whiskey.

He saw Mr. Antonio approaching and decided to attack him and rob his gold necklace so he could sell it later. He declared that the gang did not help him commit this crime. Police charged Mr. Tosoporn with snatching the necklace and running away at night time. Police will process the case according to the law.

Yeah, we've got 40 police volunteers on the beach and still these young kids high on yah-bah are able to assault tourists. When they're not mugging people they're trying to sell drugs to people walking by. Sh#t never changes. Only now everybody races their motorbikes up and down the path. :o

Just out of interest - suppose you armed yourself with one of those extendable truncheons and if you got into a situation and pulled it out and used it as self defense - what would the outcome be? (i think i already know the answer BTW)

Walking beach road, beach side, 3am, wearing a 24 gram gold necklace ... how dumb can you be?

As I keep pointing out THIS IS A BEACH HOLIDAY RESORT why is the beach road an unsafe place to be any time night or day, my point is - it should be, this just points again to the general failure of the authorities to make the tourist/holidays areas of this resort safe, yes we will have the retoric - every city in the world has places people shouldn't go, NOT THE MAIN TOURIST AREA OF A TOURIST RESORT - THE BEACH <deleted>

I blame the police for not being proactive as opposed to reative, pretty piss pure

yes there are areas in pattaya where I certaintly wouldn't go at night but they are not tourist areas, the BIB need to start getting off their butts and do some police work instead of sitting around waiting for a phone call.
