My condo is at Seacon square. I'm away at the moment, but my daughters are there. Have not been able to reach them.

Secon Square and Srinakarin is OK - about 15 - 20 km away - I also stay there - don't worry - all good here.

I don't know, but will ask.

They seem quiet, so probably have rooms.

There has not been a lot of airport business for some time.

I used them just over a month ago, booked via agoda. The Pool Wing is for regular guests but the opposite wing is exclusively for foreign air crew on controlled isolation.

Still burning now @15.20 12 hours later:

Yes, they say the big tank has ruptured and now seems burning slowly.

At least they don't expect another explosion.

A young firefighter (19 years) paid with his life. RIP.

One picture shows a young firefighter with bare hands and only a "covid" mask on.

There must be many more injured from the blast.

RIP in advance... jeez.

The government will do a through investigation and conclude slow vaccine rollout due to some item made at that factory.

Not up-front. Several images of dead first responders circulating...

Suvarnabhumi Airport remains open, despite clouds of black smoke over parts of it

Bangkok’s main international airport, Suvarnabhumi, remains open as normal with planes landing and taking off as usual, said Deputy Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport Kittiya Kontong today (Monday).

A huge plume of black smoke, billowing from a burning chemical factory in Bang Phli district of Samut Prakan, can be clearly seen in the skies over parts of the airport.

He said that he has been in close contact with the control tower and the Aeronautical Meteorology Division of the Meteorological Department and has been assured that the fire and the fumes from the burning factory will not impact aviation operations.

One is left wondering if there may have been more here, than meets the eye? The explosion was so massive, I cannot help but think there is at least the chance of deliberate sabotage.

I think that maybe a stretch to far at the moment, but not entirely discounted, depends if we see a few more in the coming days.

Seems the black smog has gotten all the way to Don Mueang already... First I thought the storm is coming but it has smell of burning plastic and is too dark to be the rain... From Windy app I can tell the wind changed direction blowing North now...
