Thailand’s Frontline Medical Staff Will Receive Booster Vaccine Shot This Week

BANGKOK (NNT) - Thailand’s Department of Disease Control (DDC) has announced that frontline medical staff will be given a booster shot of AstraZeneca vaccine this week.

DDC deputy director-general Dr. Sophon Iamsirsithavorn said a panel of experts has recommended a third dose for medical workers, because over 600, who received two doses of China’s Sinovac vaccine, have been infected with COVID-19.

According to the DDC, two medical staff have died from COVID-19 after getting the Sinovac vaccine, including a nurse in a private hospital who died despite having completed her vaccinations.

Dr. Sophon said that is the reason the department needs to give a third shot, to boost the immunity of medical staff, is because nurses and nursing assistants are at the highest risk of COVID-19 infections among medical staff, at 54%, followed by 7% for doctors and dentists.

Actually, I remember reading about the DDC approving the fact that they would get 12 doses per vial of vaccine instead of the recommended 10.

Does that mean that these people are not receiving the full dosage and that is why the Sinovac vaccine is so ineffective?

Booster shot of another vaccine?

It's called a do-over.

Essentially, all those that received Sinovac will need that "do-over" which means Thailand vaccination % rates are back to almost zero...

...and all those people waiting for vaccines have to wait for all those that have already had vaccines to take up their allocation...

Fail.

No it's just ineffective...

Gf works in lab I wonder if that is front line.

Also AZ is recommending 3 jabs in US because of different strains

??? Astrazeneca  is manufactured in the US for Brits/EU but is not authorized or used in US.

By this time next year the country as well as much of the world will be on their 4th or 5th booster.  So much of total immunity.  The 'booster' tale will be sold as vaccine makers reach a trillion USD in sales.  Boosters will be a never ending cash cow.

From the other thread:  "Sinovac spokesman Liu Peicheng ..................... suggested a third Sinovac shot could elicit more durable antibody reaction."
