Thai PM gives the nod to country being free wi-fi and artificial intelligence hub

Maybe this is great idea.

Install AI, and when 'Skynet becomes aware', it'll perceive Government House as a threat to humanity and launch a devastating attack!

Sounds like a win-win to me!

Yingluck idea  this internet project its been going back and forth years now ..

Well, ideas are easy. Execution is hard.

I don't know if anyone here will be able to execute on a good idea, but at least it's better than trying to execute on a bad idea.

Already established in parliament.

Free WiFi everywhere, those paying are going to see a big

drop in the speeds, unless the Government increase bandwidth

and increase gateways out of Thailand.

One thing I learnt very quickly, nothing is free in Thailand.... ever.

Can we first fill some potholes lying around for the past 10 years before moving to the AI crapola please?

Free ? Nothing is for free. Maybe as free as facebook ? You can use Wifi it but please don't forget to enter all your personal data first

Great! We haven't had a hub for a long time now.

Is this to distract "his people" from the fact that the majority of them haven't been vaccinated yet and probably won't be before the end of the year? Is this to keep them busy while they sit at home counting the last of their meager savings waiting to go back to work?

It's nothing more than a quick distraction from the omnipresent problem.

The PM - called Big Too by the media - wants to see more free wi-fi in places like educational establishments and offices for the benefit of his people.

Nothing is free. Somebody pays.

Free, meaning not paying at the point of use, or free, meaning the ability to access all websites without interference?

Unlikely, one suspects, to be the latter. And as I said, nothing is for free. So this story is bunkum.

Huawei order on the cards is it?

"It is reported that Huawei has provided over the past years the latest wireless communication technologies for the medical sector in Thailand and cloud platforms for Thai universities"

How about some free mRNA vaccine for his people instead? Would make more sense given the current situation don't you think?

Well... since "natural intelligence" has always had trouble catching on here (particularly in government circles), maybe "artificial intelligence" will accomplish the trick.

This is actually a good idea. Knowledge intensive but low initial capital fields like software engineering, data science and machine learning are some of the fields that the government ought to be heavily promoting.

Waaaaay more realistic than booting up a pie in the sky space program.

Since they have to depend on donations from other countries for vaccines. Where does this money come from? Aliens from outer space
