As many as 25 Thai celebrities have been or are being investigated over their criticism of the government and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, especially concerning the currently inadequate national vaccine rollout and other pandemic measures, said Deputy Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Pol Maj-Gen Piya Tavichai today (Thursday).

 

The trend of celebrities calling out the government on various issues on their social media, which have huge followings, known as “Celeb Callouts”, has been intensified by a lawsuit filed by Mr. Prayut’s lawyer against a rapper “Milli” over her online posts targeting the government and the prime minister. The Thai hashtag #SaveMilli has been used in over a million tweets.

 

18-year-old Danupha Khanatheerakul reported to police today to hear the charge of defamation. She was fined 2,000 Baht.

What a sad state of affairs, clear that this pathetic excuse of a government are running scared.

Get vaccines for people, channel your energies on helping the people/ country, instead of this crazy nonsense, just shows what a childish/pathetic bunch they are.

If you are at the top PM, minister or whatever and you act like this it is just normal to get critics.. He deserves it...Let the people say what they think of them. In every democratic country it can be done

No, think about the number of seats reserved for military appointees .

It is somewhat akin to the idea of democracy in Myanmar, although the citizens there are protesting and  being killed by the military , while the world watches on in silence.

You mean the current DPRT where free speech is punished, truth is punished and lies are accepted as truths and people are forced to believe them, yep Amazing Thailand.  My heart goes out to all of my friends here in Thailand and their families who are suffering at the hands of this Junta lead Government.

The plucky Ms Milli should thank the govt and plod. They just added millions to her social media following (me included) and boosted her career.  

 

My sympathies are with plod. They get criticised for not helping people literally dying in the street of covid, when any fair minded person would accept that with their limited resources they had to prioritise pursuing serious 18 year old criminals like Milli.
