Let me ask a logical question...

Why must I activate or obtain the information needed to activate from

within the unactivated copy of windows?

For instance my XP right now has a dialup connection config that would

get XP onto the internet without any problem but XP doesn't allow you

to establish an internet connection.

Secondly,

If I just need the confirmation number and product id to do it over

the phone why aren't their chat bots/websites setup to take the

information and provide me with that I need in an OS that works and

then I can boot back and provide the activation info to XP via the

Telephone menu option.

I shouldn't have to make an international phone call from Thailand to

Singapore just to activate windows.

You should even be able to go thru activation using SMS.

I can remember that I registered with a one-2-call mobile SIM card, and checked the balance before and after. The whole registering did not used more then 5 Baht. (What let me think that the number in Singapore is a toll-free-number)

Windows XP can register by using a analog modem dial-up connection, check your hardware and modem settings and check if the Windows firewall or other firewall software is not blocking internet traffic

I activated Vista last week with an internet connection that it had no problem establishing. XP allows all normal operation for 30 days so you should be able to connect to internet and activate. For those 30 days there should be an icon on the system try that you click to do the activation - once done it disappears.

The number in Singapore is tollfree and cost 0 Baht!

So, not any problem to activate via phone!

If someone was charged 5 Baht for a 1 2 Call call, that's for the mobile connection in Thailand, which is never free, even with tollfree numbers!

Guess I'll try over the phone then. What I'm talking about is when your 30 days are up and then you're forced to activate in order to login. I'm saying at that point there doesn't appear to be anyway to use an internet connection that you may have been previously using within the 30 day period.

Meanwhile the activation application says you can activate with an internet connection.
