Leading Thai doctor says the Covid stats can't be trusted

Dr Thira Woratanarat went on his personal Facebook page to suggest that the figures for Covid-19 infections and deaths do not reflect reality.

The Chula medical sciences guru said it made no sense that 250-500,000 cases took 27 days and 500,000 to a milllion took less - only 25 days.

He suggested there were far more cases not included in the figures as people were isolating at home after doing their own ATK tests, reported Sanook

He was skeptical that any peaks had been reached despite some saying they had.

He said that without a continuing hard lockdown with all its rules the current numbers - or worse - will be running to the end of October or even later in the year.

i'm going to bet against his forecast.  the death numbers will be below 100/day in october.  death numbers can be hidden but they are far more reliable than cases.  so the death numbers will be better, not the same or worse.  the case numbers are meaningless due to the weak testing program.

Me too.

As i wrote before : look at "serious conditions" and "ventilators" patients....

Since end of june (so almost 2 months), the daily increase in % has decelerated, constantly... and now (since a few days) is in negative territory.

forget "cases" stats". We all know it's BS.

So from the hospitals point of view (real ones, not "hospitels" BS)... the wave is clearly GOING DOWN.

It doesn't mean it can't go up again. But the evolution is looking good.

97% of ministerial statements released by the Junta bear scant resemblance to reality.

Once 70% of the population is finally vaccinated and everything starts to open up then the number of recorded cases will skyrocket.

So in my humble opinion it is time to move on from publishing daily infection numbers and start giving us honest figures relating to how many have died and how many have been vaccinated.

But when do you think 70% of the population will finally get vaccinated?

Strange that there is circ 20k cases a day, maybe that's the max testing available

Brave man - telling the truth!

Watch out for the men in black....

Professor Klutch will be along to tell us all this is fake news, so he can open his titty bar

Rural doctors society said the same thing.

They think their smart but everything will have to just close again.

Is he actually saying that Thais are lying to Thais along with the rest of the world? This surely can't be true...

Nobody is shocked by the common sense of it. Sadly, we won't be shocked by the lies and manipulation to come either.

Cases continue at around 40% infection rate. One can therefore extrapolate that 50,000 tests a day 20,000 infections detected. 100,000 tests a day 40,000 infections detected. 40,000 tests 16,000 detections. If they did 100,000 PCR tests per day and went out into the community and did 100,000 ATK tests per day (taking into account false positives and false negatives) you would be looking at numbers upward of 60,000 per day at the low end being an infection rate of 30% and maybe 100,000 at the high end being an infection rate of 50%.

Not just in Thailand… even with a lot more testing in the UK and US, it was assumed that the official case numbers were a big underestimation.

The only trusted Thai doctor I trustidly trust is Dr. Bleachair Forgothisname.

A politician for lies, an academic for an opinion, for facts try an independent journalist.

It is. They are testing about 50,000 per day with the PCR method.

The rapid tests are not included in the official case figures.

and who's christmas card list has he been removed from lol

brave man coming out and speaking the truth

if certain people were removed now we might actually get a sensible strategy in place that will allow vaccinated tourists to visit Thailand without all the red tape - there are sensible ways and means to address this like I posted on another thread

fully vaccinated staff and customers for a start then I see no reason why certain venues cannot open up provided they are supervised with the cops checking they are in compliance

Last month tests went up to mid 70k. Maybe it was early this month.

I am less enthusiastic than most about this yet another doctor advocating continuous hard lockdowns.

Leading Thai doctor???? That really makes me feel very scared if a might need to go to a hospital. It took this guy 1,5 years more to figure out this, compared to the rest of the population. Translated: If you are sick and need care, you will have the time to die 50 times before anyone attend to your problems.

They are called creative statistics.

With the UK testing on average about 500,000 a day compared to less than 50,000 in Thailand, the chances are that the UK numbers are at least 10 times more accurate than Thailand's ! Underestimated or not.

Be honest the whole worldometer is a bit of a joke, test more , find more, hence most of the world's most tested countries appear in the top 10 for covid positives ! Apart from China who nobody on the planet believe any data from

Great idea. They have been doing this around the globe without any success so surely it will work this time.
