The government has offered financial aid to Thai Smile, a subsidiary of national flag-carrier Thai Airways, the Finance Minister said on Friday as the airline industry continues to be ravaged by Covid-19 restrictions.

Thai Smile was given a low-interest loan from the state-owned Export-Import Bank of Thailand, said Finance Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith. The amount of the loan has not yet been disclosed.

Other low-cost and boutique airlines have called on the government to provide financial assistance during the pandemic for close to a year. Among them are Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, Thai VietJet, and Thai AirAsia X.

IMO

If one airline gets a bail out I hope its "Thai Smile".

We try to use them on domestic flights.  We've always had a good experience.

Traveling with children is hard enough.  "Thai Smile" employees always help and are courteous.

Refund and change policy is easier than the other domestic carriers.

I hope they all make it through this.  We need competition to keep prices low and the low paying wages are better than nothing.
