Customers will need to be double vaxxed or have negative ATK result from October to use restaurants

Dr Suwannachai Wattanayingcharoejnchai, chief of the Department of Health, told Thai media The Coverage that diners at restaurants will need to be double vaccinated or have an ATK test kit negative result within seven days to eat at restaurants in deep red zones.

The measures will also apply if you want to get a haircut, spa treatment or use a beauty salon.

It'll be part of a three pronged anti-Covid approach from October 1st at malls and community malls.

Customers will have to fill in a form on the "Thai Save Thai" app just to get a bite to eat.

You'll have to show your vaccine status - two jabs - as well. If you've had Covid within the last one to three months you'll need to show proof of that to enter.

The three protocols will be: Covid Free Environment, Covid Free Personnel and Covid Free Customer.

Under the strict regulations businesses must abide by cleaning and clean air protocols and their staff must be vaccinated or have had ATK negative results in 7 days and must refrain from eating or socializing together.

And the protocols for arriving customers must be followed as well as any other guidelines the provincial authorities deem necessary.

Customers can expect to continue to have to experience social distancing, more cashless payment, screens between them and staff and firms must engage in providing cleaning every couple of hours of surfaces and frequent cleaning of air-con units and provide adequate ventilation.

ASEAN NOW notes that businesses are bound to be unhappy about these rules especially having to harbor the cost of ATK tests on staff that they previously said was unsustainable.

Numbers will be limited in malls and in individual restaurants and people may just decide to keep having food delivered for now.

Many restaurants in Bangkok since the restrictions were eased on Wednesday now have diners but patrons have been limited.

Just another authoritarian health official muttering something for his 5 minutes of fame. Until confirmed, I would say this is fake news, OR it is already decided that from 1 October, there will be no more "dark red zones".

Too many times, such statements get reversed next day, and this one is not even from Anutin himself

MADNESS prevails! AGAIN! ????????

So, they have a whole month of freedom, with fewer vaccinated people, and promise the restaurants of 'no going back.' Then they introduce this crazy idea that most families won't be able to eat together as kids or one member hasn't had the second jab yet.

At least these Muppets have 24 days to flipflop again!

Just tattoo the info on your forehead as well as a QR code they can scan as they take your temperature......starting to believe they truly do not want folks to move about yet, or maybe they do and they are scared.  How are the restaurants and the other locales supposed to verify the info you provide, unless that is what this new wonder app is for.  Of course, how long will it last.  Walked into the mall yesterday and the people ahead were just walking in without scanning the QR code and the security folks did not even make a peep, very few signing the papers on the table either.

Wow, I am now a second rate citizen as I have not been able to get properly vaccinated. Now we are facing a tough choice: meeting local standards and not being able to travel abroad (eg Sinovac and locally produced AZ), or wait a bit for Pfizer or Moderna and not allowed to go to restos (and probably domestic transportation) in Thailand.

  • Popular Post

So without any real data that indicates that the current policy has not worked, they just switch to another one.

this just switches businesses from being shut to shutting out most people from going to them

this is the worst choice they could have made for businesses.

they will have to pay all the costs associated with being open with a very limited portion of the population allowed to go to them.

a bit OT , but locally produced AZ is recognized in some European countries (FR,DE) and in the process to be recognized by EMA and WHO (source - AZ website and FR/DE embassy).

Not only the customers  need  to be checked the Restaurants need checking too... we went to an Italian Restaurant last Saturday evening, i ordered Spagetti Carbonara, when it reached the table the smell was so bad,  something  had gone  off, the  cook came to the table saying its not off, i invited her to smell it ..  she refused saying no need to smell i know its not off.. but refused to discount the bill

I doubt anyone will pay attention whatsoever to all of this.

Businesses are desperate.

Any bit of paper waved in their face will get you a seat in a restaurant

Crikey, the government must really hate restaurants and restaurant owners/staff here to want them to fail so much.    What's the betting they still don't allow alcohol with a meal even after the all the hoops the restaurant/customer has to jump through after this.

"at restaurants in deep red zones

Is there a new classification of zones? Orange, Red, Dark Red, Deep Red?

I suspect a lot of provinces will be moved out of deep-red shortly before 1 October.

I applaud your bravery just for ordering Carbonara in Thailand...most cooks in the West can't get it done right

I envisage a flourishing industry of fake vax certificates flooding the markets already (among others)...

  • Popular Post

I would agree with their reasoning IF people could be vaccinated. I mean people who don't want to be vaccinated should just not go to large gatherings. They will get covid and overburden the health system. Causing delays for people who need serious operations.

But right now its not right to make this distinction because people DONT have the choice of getting vaccinated. So first provide enough vaccines. Then put these kind of rules to work.

Maybe if they make it so that you need a certificate of vaccination to visit bar girls anti vaxers here would quickly be vaccinated.

Posts denigrating and calling Chinese vaccines useless and referring to it with derogatory names have been removed.

Whilst it may be less effective in certain cases ie Delta strain it is by no means useless.

At the end of the day this is a Thai government sponsored vaccine and the forum and or yourself can get in trouble for comments like this so stop it.

It is already over 15 percent fully vaxed and nearing 25 percent more single vax. By the time October 1 comes around should be around 40 percent fully vaccinated.

Never going to happen!

Some person needs to go shopping at the local market,is everyone there vaccinated?

The list goes on but don't worry too much tomorrow there will be a flop headline.

"you understood me wrong,it was out of context,i did not mean that"etc.

Businesses will just love todays headline,a few calls will be made and it will be reversed tomorrow.
