September 9, 20214 yr Popular Post Look at who is driving this: Thailand National Defense College; Joint War College, and the War Colleges of the three armed forces. They obviously anticipate being in control for the next 20 years!
September 9, 20214 yr Popular Post Unicorn level is where your impaled by a single spike up the jack crack judging by the photo we are still currently at the 6 headed dog level and will be for some time ????
September 9, 20214 yr Popular Post Yes, and as we all know, the Unicorn was a mythical creature - need I say more?
September 9, 20214 yr Popular Post Just to chime in, "Unicorn" in investing is slang to refer to a private company worth USD $1billion+. More full definition here. What the PM is probably trying to say here is that he wants Thailand to be able to incubate and nurture startup champions. Which I think is a good goal, but is easier said than done.
September 9, 20214 yr Ah, somebody has been watching "30 Rock", taking Jack Donaghy's advice as real-world business acumen... Will they copy the slogan: "We have a magic horse"? Also, will the prime minister strive to be a succesfull business leader such as Kathy Geiss? Stay tuned... Edited September 9, 20214 yr by StayinThailand2much

Even among my wife, her friends, and my Thai coworkers, who are by no means business tycoons, the English words "franchise" and "renovate" are frequently uttered. They've certainly got the dreams, but walking the walk and talking the talk are entirely different. They're in definite need of some fresh new ideas. Amongst big business here, their ideas of late have only been: 1) Cleaning up on Covid fire sales to further monopolies 2) Delivery services 3) Apps 4) Ridiculous points schemes. Amongst regular folks looking to dip their feet in business, the ideas I've heard have only been: 1) Online selling, usually cheap import, night market stuff. Have you seen Lazada Live? Gee, the amazing new technology brings the hawker to you, in stunning clarity, screaming at you to buy while ringing bells and honking horns. Aside from that there are the old standbys: 2) Coffee shop 3) Noodle shop 4) Franchise, good luck with that being next door to the inevitable CP affiliate. September 10, 20214 yr As always, nothing concrete, nothing immediate, nothing important, nothing detailed, nothing actually doing. Just important-sounding words someone gave him to toss out, slowly drifting away in the wind, forgotten tomorrow, or, more likely, five minutes from now.
September 10, 20214 yr Popular Post "General Prayut Chan-O-Cha, Prime Minister and Defense Minister, was speaking about three initiatives to drive Thailand towards a digital economy and create more economic opportunities, firstly, by building technology and digital infrastructure, including Big Data infrastructure." big talk for a guy whose government cant even produce functioning websites for things as mundane/trivial as the 90-day report
September 10, 20214 yr First thing they should do is put int he data protection laws if they want to succeed in IT. Security is bad as all the recent hacks show. How can a country be good at ICT when its security is far below par. They never seem to point out their weaknesses but go on sprouting nonsense and almost miracle like best case scenarios. A bit more reality would not hurt. But then again this what all Thai officials do, reality is not important making exceptional unrealistic projections is.
September 10, 20214 yr PM definitely needs to get out of the...'driving them out of business'...business!
