Cancel Netflix subscription - a little concerning

I recently subscribed to Netflix, with a recurring Paypal payment.

I was less than impressed with the choice of videos on offer.  Mainly American movies which is not my thing.  So I went into my Paypal account and cancelled the monthly subscription.

2 days later, I get an email purporting to be from Netflix that says that they were unable to collect my monthly subscription, and could I please sign in and check that my subscription payment is correctly set up.

But this email is from a scammer!  It's in my spam folder and the from address and link to click on are nothing to do with Netflix or Paypal....

Is it just coincidence that I got this spam email after I cancelled?  I find that a little hard to believe.  Has Netflix compromised my contact details?

Was your contract with Netflix or PayPal?

If Netflix then you need to cancel your contract with them.

I'd log in to your Netflix account to determine the current status.

Assuming the email in truly "spam", then yes, it's a coincidence. But honestly, with so few details and a confusing narrative who can say.

It's only a confusing narrative if you don't understand simple English....

Check the actual email address .. I often get mail from PayPal, on checking the email you could tell it was a phishing email. There is a guide on PP site to tell you what is real and which is not.

As above, cancel your sub via the Netflix app then they won't try and take it from PayPal.

I had a Netflix account in the past, the content may be pretty generic, but I found as a company they were pretty good to deal with, try calling the helpline - the staff were pretty helpful.

A bit rude....

Clearly he did not understand that with your account, you can cancel via PayPal rather than via NetFlix. Nothing to do with his understanding of English.

Why not post the actual email address?
