September 25, 20214 yr My fiance is living in Phetchabun province and as I plan to return to Thailand soon I'm wanting her to get vaccinated ASAP as I am double dosed with Astra Zeneca here in Australia. But she tells me that many people in Thailand have died after having the Astra Zeneca shot. I'm wondering if it's just silly rumours circulating in her village or if there is some truth to it. Here in Oz we've had about 7 deaths from Thrombosis after an AZ shot but thats after at least 7 million shots, so like 1 in 1,000,000 which is hardly worth worrying about. Can anyone shed some light on the amount deaths in Thailand after an AZ shot?
September 25, 20214 yr Popular Post ask your girlfriend to shed some light on it and back up her claims....no chance of that I'm sure
September 25, 20214 yr Popular Post You can still catch COVID whichever vaccine you've had. However, having had the vaccine makes it less likely that you'll get seriously ill or die from COVID (Someone will correct me if I'm wrong!). Also, we're starting to see that if you can prove that you're jabbed/double-jabbed, you can go places where you can't otherwise. Edited September 25, 20214 yr by Andrew65
September 25, 20214 yr Popular Post My wife's had sinofarm and getting her second in October. They only have Pfizer for farangies, Sinovac & Sinofarm for Thais and reported deaths in our area from vaccines is zero.

Some time ago around 30 out of 17 million (numbers like that) people had got a blood clot. (Also, how can we know if they would have got a blood clot or not if they hadn't been vaccinated?).
September 25, 20214 yr Popular Post I'm not sure there have been any deaths that have been proven to be linked to the AZ vaccine in Thailand. A number of deaths have occurred in people who had received the vaccine but I'm not aware that a direct causal link has been established. Don't forget that having a vaccine does not make you immortal and deaths will still occur in vaccinated people at roughly the same rate as they occur in the unvaccinated (apart from dying of Covid of course).
September 25, 20214 yr Popular Post These rumours are persistent amongst some Thais. As I explained to my staff - man received vaccine shot and is run over by a bus whilst crossing the road. Headline in Thai paper 'man dies after receiving Covid vaccine'. ???? Seriously, there a been a few deaths after receiving the vaccines. A very small number in the scheme of things. That does not help though if it is someone that you love. I have had two AZ vaccines and I am still here.
September 25, 20214 yr Popular Post Someone made a good point recently. People are scared sh*tless of the vaccine, "cos they don't know what's in it", but they're perfectly ok with taking pills/powder that they bought from a complete stranger in a nightclub!???? September 25, 20214 yr Popular Post Quite a number of folks in our village were nervous about getting vaccinated due to these stupid rumours. Then I stepped up to the plate and became the 1st one to go and have an AZ jab and then I proudly strutted around the village showing how fit and well I was. And now they are all happy to go and get vaccinated. Action speaks louder than words as they say.

Analysis of data from millions of people shows that you're much more likely to get blood clots from being infected with Covid than you are from getting any of the vaccines. COVID-19 infection much more likely to cause blood clots than vaccines
September 25, 20214 yr Popular Post To the OP. Your girlfriend is sadly misinformed. What other pearls of wisdom has she imparted to you? AZ is the easiest option of a good vaccine here. Sinovac does not do well with the Delta variant, and Sinopharm is sort of an unknown, If she as a Thai has a chance for AZ tell her to take it. Most Thai's seem to be getting Sinovac as the first injection and then AZ as the second. Both my wife and I are fully vaccinated with AZ and had no side effects at all. September 25, 20214 yr Popular Post In my family village (c1000) there have been no cases of covid or related deaths. Which means that the Thai problem with risk & probability & safety kicks in. As we see when the PM - in the second half of the monsoon as downpours pour down - suggests it might be a good idea to clear the canals. Or as we see with safety barriers on roads not installed until at least someone has died on that particular corner ... So in my 'immediate' family of 20 people eligible for vax, only 3 have so far been done & they were working in BKK. Only when people start getting seriously ill and dying in the village will they move on vax.
September 25, 20214 yr Popular Post Of course it's safe. it's made to the same standards as UK and Australia. Sadly, people die before vaccines, on the day, and after them too. All vaccines are involved in a handful of cases per million where they may have been a contributing factor, but usually there is a compelling underlying cause. it's often complex. The thrombocytopenia issue specific to vector vaccines seems to be less of a problem in Asia.
September 25, 20214 yr Popular Post There have been no deaths from AZ reported in Thailand. One blood clot case after taking vaccine but recovered. People who are worried about getting blood clots should probably not venture outdoors since the chances of getting killed by a falling meteor whilst not exactly the same are in the same ball park.

September 25, 20214 yr Living in Phetchabun and having HAD the AZ vaccine from the local authority any such rumor is nonsense ! I certainly have not heard any such negative chatter.

The stats say that more people die from Thunderstorm Asthma in Australia than Thrombosis (blood clots) from AZ. 25 million jabs have gone into arms here and 7 people have died from vaccine related Thrombosis....you do the math! Research shows that Trypanophobia (fear of medical procedures) is the greatest ACTUAL deterrent to people being vaccinated, not fear of blood clots or any other rare side effect

September 25, 20214 yr Yes Google is your friend. There have been several deaths shortly after receiving AZ in Thailand. You are telling the truth but what you are implying is wrong!!!!!! No one in Thailand has died because of receiving AZ vaccine. Vaccines are not killing people, unfortunately some people have died to to complications but it is unfair and wrong to imply vaccines are killing people. Covid is killing people but not all people who get Covid die.
