There are only sneaky questions if you have lodged a sneaky application.

General questions as usual

  • where did you met?
  • What have you in common?
  • what your partner like?
  • what's your plan for the future?

I've been through the de-facto interview and was mainly asked for my reasons as to why we chose 'de-facto' rather than getting married. This interview was conducted at the Oz Embassy, Bangkok.

I stated that I had very strong, personal reasons for not wanting to get married. The case officer asked me to elaborate but I just said that my reasons were 'personal.'

This answer was not enough for them and once back in Australia, I received a telephone call from an Australian official at the Bangkok Embassy inviting me to submit further reasons as to why we should be granted a 'de-facto' category visa.

I then had to disclose some of my personal reasons in a written submission.

For the Embassy interview you are sure to be asked similar questions such as above, so have some answers ready.

You can also expect the usual questions about your partner and her family...and vice versa. Make sure that specific things like dates, circumstances of meeting, employment details, income etc. (as stated in your application) are remembered for the telephone interview.

I suggest that you write a list of likely questions and coach your partner in the best way to answer them. Keep firing these questions at her until she can answer them accurately and without hesitation.

I just spoke with my gf. She said that her former boss had to answer questions such as:

'what color of underwear your bf is wearing?'

'when you had sex last time? what position?'

Because the interviewer didn't believe that there was a genuine couple...

aahah

too funny!!
