Sounds like one of the greatest stockpiles in the world.

Congratulations they must be very proud.

  • Why are they stockpiling them - get them into peoples arms.

  • Never a good idea to stockpile vaccines, as they can only be stored for a small amount of time.

  • It's a long way to 70%. And a significant proportion have probably gotten the Chinese stuff, that might prove to be completely worthless.

tired of listening to garbage about chinese vaccines being completely worthless. don't just be a keyboard warrior, give us some facts otherwise do not comment. Chinese stuff has prevented hundreds of millions of deaths from being ill. go look at Pfizer results in Israel. 6 months and its effects worn out. I am not saying Pfizer is worthless, but all vaccines have helped to a  huge degree. boosters are needed no doubt. I and i believe many of us would never know the root of this virus is and huge conspiracies that surround its existence but this is the new norm. just because something is not western made does not mean its worthless. get that <deleted> out of your head already. its 2021.

I think another misleading headline.  Thailand will not have a 'stockpile' of 125 million vaccines by the end of the year.    According to Reuters, Thailand will have received a total of 120 million vaccines during 2021.  Obviously, many of them have already been used in the vaccination program.  So, no 'stockpile' of 125 million doses waiting to be used.

Over 50 million already administered, and a million on one day, predominately Sinovac, says otherwise.

And what does the science say? Better yet, what does the Chinese say?

The science says Sinovac does the job albeit not quite as well as some other vaccines.

My wife's overweight, diabetic 70 yr. old sister who received two Sinovac jabs, tested positive for Covid 19. She was hospitalized and said she felt a little sick, but quickly recovered and is now fine. Maybe the "Chinese stuff" isn't as effective as some others, but appears to have worked in my sister-in-law's case. "Better than nothing" at the very least.

As of 19th Sept vaccine brands used in Thailand have been:

AZ: 19,484,396

Sinovac: 17,749,526

Sinopharm: 6,294,801

Pfizer: 1,213,326

So your claims are not correct Sinovac has not been the predominate vaccine used.

Zzzzzzzz ok Brian. Thanks for fact checking.

17 million is still a lot of people to suggest people don’t want it though don’t you think ?

Not speculating just providing a correction to your claims as they were completely untrue, if you find that zzzzzzzzzzzzz so be it

yep, according to TNN in their daily report, almost half of those jabbed so far are with Chinese vaccines.  Some have now gotten a 3rd shot and some even a 4th shot.  Hopefully, the new free shipment from the US of Pfizer will go to school kids around the country and not just to BKK.

The vaccines should go to places, where the infection rates are highest. Not to Nakhon Somwhere, where there are very few infections.

do the people in thailand know that nearly everybody in europe has had injection and life has got back to nearly normal  ,the summer tourist season was saved. ,why are they not asking why did that not happen in Thailand. ,to me the answer is easy

The vaccine should first and foremost go into the arms of those who are not yet vaccinated.

Shame he left it so late, this year could have been so much better.

So what.  160,000 deaths in the UK and not getting much better. It seems in spite of everything in Thailand have done very much better than the UK in handling the pandemic.

Well yes I accept the UK  are 4th in the league table wrt infections and appear to be the worst in Europe. But they will be eating in restaurants tonight, able to go out for a drink, to a football match, and stay out after 9pm.

I'd say 80% do.

Bad business.

Hopefully they realize that those 50 countries aren't very relative to Thai economy.

I assume you got one of those Chinese vaccines.

You know that expats can get Pfiezer, unless you're on a toursist visa of course.

Pandemic, urgency, return to normality

Vaccines need to be in arms not on shelves

No choice like other countries.

If they offered quality vaccines people would be banging the door down to get them.

Also bad for business as you can't visit most countries with Sinovac or the mix and match thing.

"This means that those who have shots by Chinese makers like Sinovac Biotech Ltd. and Sinopharm Group Co. Ltd. are likely to be barred from entry for the foreseeable future, with stark consequences for global business activity and the revival of international tourism."

Yes they will and also maybe they'll be contracting the COVID-19.

Having a stockpile is like a pilot saying "plenty of runway behind us".

Don't they realise people are screaming out to get vaccinated and trying to get life back to some form of normality.

Agree,

Why stockpile?

But more to the point the quicker they get them in peoples arms the quicker they reach the threshold, the quicker they can reopen and other countries will accept they are a safe country to visit.

Also then, the UK and others will remove them from the RED lists.

125 million doses and I cant get one jab. Registered on 3 web sites with no reply. No worries , will be back in USA next month and will get the best vaccine on the market Moderna. Also visit the family

The Dump will be full of these Chines vaccines as not many want them.

Which dump is that? If youmean Thailand, why do you like here. If you don't live here, why post an asinine comment. If Chinese vaccines didn;t work, there is no way China could suppress millions of deaths that should hav occurred by now,

Yes but they won't be getting ill or admitted to hospital because they are fully vaccinated.

98% of those infected don't go on to serious illness and those that do are usually not vaccinated.

How long before there is civil unrest as people cannot earn a living or feed their families? Zero covid is not an option.

I'm not comparing Thailand to the UK or any other country.

What I said was if Thailand got it's at together 12 months ago this year would have been a better one for everyone... deaths would have been negligible, infections a lot less and businesses including borders open 6 months ago.

There's not 125 million doses stockpiled.

Possibly because wealthy countries are being accused of stockpiling for third booster doses rather than helping out poorer countries.  Maybe they want to be able to boast that they're stockpiling also.

And he now refers to vaccines as inactivated (sinopharm, sinovac and AZ) or mRNA.

If he said that, he's wrong. AZ is not an inactivated virus vaccine, it's a viral vector vaccine.
