DARAGA, Albay – The Bicol International Airport (BIA), after years of delay, will finally open on October 6, 2021.

“The first domestic day flight is on October 6 but there will be (no ceremonies) and the first domestic night flight will be on November,” Albay Representative Joey Salceda told the Inquirer in a message Sunday.

Salceda said the airport, located in Alabo village here, is already 99 percent complete.

Department of Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade, who inspected the airport earlier said in a statement that “construction works for the BIA has been delayed for 11 years.”

“It (BIA) went through three groundbreaking ceremonies prior to this (Duterte) administration. Now, construction of the Bicol International Airport is almost complete!” Tugade said.
