‘Joe Ferrari’, six former cops to be prosecuted over fatal torture of suspect

Four charges, including murder by torture or brutal acts, will be filed with public prosecutors tomorrow (Wednesday) against Thitisan Utthanaphon, aka “Joe Ferrari” and six other former police officers for allegedly suffocating a suspect to death with plastic bags.

Thammasat abandons plan to get 1.5m doses of donated vaccine from Poland

The Thammasat University field hospital has abandoned its plan to accept a donation of 1.5 million doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine from Poland. The university has failed to obtain an official letter, from the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirming its status as the Thai government’s official representative for receipt of the vaccine donation.

Bang Sue vaccination center accepts walk-ins for adolescents

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Central Vaccination Center at Bang Sue Grand Station has since yesterday been offering the COVID-19 vaccine to adolescents without an appointment. Teenagers 12-18 years old can travel to the site to get their first jab of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine until 10 November.

PHUKET (NNT) - The tourism scene in some provinces has visibly gotten livelier after the relaxation of Covid restrictions to accommodate the reopening of Thailand to international tourists, and as the tourism high season comes into view. This is especially true for Phuket province, which has a 3-month head start because of the Phuket Sandbox quarantine waiver initiative.

The Thai Government’s chief whip, Wirat Rattanaseth, has to stop performing his duties as an MP from Tuesday after the Supreme Court Criminal Division for Holders of Political Office accepted a massive corruption case for trial. The case concerns the construction of substandard futsal courts in several north-eastern provinces almost a decade ago, worth a combined 4.4 billion baht.

According to the latest data released on October 28th, Prachuap province has accumulated a total of 14,753 positive cases and 96 deaths, elderly people accounted for 56.4of deaths and those with underlying diseases accounted for 10.4. Of the 14,753 cumulative total cases in the province, 2,776 are currently receiving treatment in hospital or are staying in quarantine, while a total of 12,506 have made a full recovery and have already been discharged.

Slightly fewer dwellings listed on property market in Q2, 2021, with prices increased

A Thai Real Estate Information Centre’s (REIC) report shows an average of 114,668 second hand dwellings had been listed per month in the second quarter of 2021, along with some 290,000 new properties, a slight contraction compared to the first quarter of this year, but at higher prices.
