Mobi has kindly offered to be the point man. I then suggest that the rest of us arrange to meet Moby, all at the same time, same place on perhaps Saturday, and bring our laptops etc., or whatever necessary. If Jimmyd dropped by we could personally thank him too.

I'm in the central Pattaya area. I'll be happy to give the dvd to anyone who promises to then make sure it (or a copy of it) gets to those who want it.

I always suggest Carrefour as good meeting place. Most of us go there, or near there at one time or another.

If there are no other volunteers, I could meet you tomorrow at Carrefour at a time of your choosing - preferably not too early, or if you wish me to choose a time, say around 1 p.m.

I will defer if anyone else is more desperate than me :o

Unfortunately, I work, so late afternoon/early evening is best for me. How about 5 pm?

erm...sorry, I forgot some people have to work for a living :D

I can't make 5 p.m. so can I resign as point man?

Can anyone else make it? :o

Thanks for the offer anyway Mobi, nice of you to help, even though you didn't need it yet. Ok, so it looks like English Farang Lady, Bounder and I are the 3 wanting this. I live in BKK, but will be driving to Pattaya on Fri or Sat., so I can't do it before this. If Bounder/English can't do it before then, I would suggest meeting Jimmyd at a workable time for him on Saturday, if possible. If I meet him alone though I may not be able to help any others as I will only stay one night likely. Best for Jimmyd to advise a workable time on Saturday for him.

For the English Farang Lady and other addicts this website can provide some relief, as it provides interpretation and insight as to what is happening.

BTW there are 9 extra episodes on top of the original 12 in Series 6.

Last episode airs next Sunday in USA.

P.S. I'd love to see Tony Soprano on top of Melfi for a final sex scene :o

Edit to add -Thanks Jimmyd for pm

Hubby is not back until Monday 1th, so sadly cant make it before then, or more likely the 12th/13th. But happy to get in line after you guys have seen it. Msg to JimmyD -- what do you like to watch? Maybe I have some that you would like?

Six Feet Under is hugley under-rated. Similar concept as Sopranos, in as much as one man, Alan Ball created and wrote many of the episodes. Exceptionally strong characterization, and to me, very realistic. As with Sopranos, I have the full sets, series one to five inclusive. And the finale episode, which is really a finale, no going back, is simply the best ending of ANY series I have ever seen, including the series ER when George Cloony and Julianne Margolies finally get together under the lyrics of Don Henleys (an ex-Eagle) fantastic song, written specifically for that scene, "Taking You Home".

On Six Feet Under there is no possibility of going back. And the ends of all the main characters are tied up nicely, in a very satisfying way. Quite exceptionally wise of Alan Ball in my opinion. Cant stand to be left hanging and like the ends tied up. Which is why I like Michael Crighton and John Irving as authors, they always wrap things up on characters. This will certainly be a challenge to beat in a season finale, and doubt David Chase will quite make it it. He likes leaving things hanging, rather than sewing them up tight.

Even though I have seen the summaries of the final episodes, those I knew about anyhow, Mobi, I watch them at least five tiimes each for scripting purposes. So knowing the rough outline does not detract for me.

Strangely, we just had Sophon Cable installed and there was an episode of the series you mentioned with an aged "Captain Kirk" (the original) and quite a stellar cast around him. It was very funny --- the one about the female orgasm machine -- but only saw part as we had to to up at Foodland. Will definitely get it next time we go to Tuk.

Cowboys dont appeal, but Ian McShane is exceptionally good, what a break for him to capture this lead. May give it a try. Greys seemed more to me like Sex in the City crossed with West Wing, and was trying to be character led, but in my opinion failed. Except for one incredibly sexy guy in an episode near the end, "Denny Duquette". Dialogue style is straight from West Wing, short, clipped, trendy. Characters seem shallow and acting not good in my opinion.

ER on the other hand was way ahead of its time, as you would expect from Michael Crighton. Anyone read his book on transgenic animals? Called "Next". You think GM foods are scarey, wait till you read this.

Hope someone will PM me when time and let me know what to do with the Soprano disc after watching it.

Regards to all, and zillions of thanks to JimmyD, what a kind fella!!!

Forgot to say that Tuk has the "Yes Minister" and "Yes Prime Minister" series too. Both are priceless comments on the political scene in the UK prior to "New Labour". Slightly dated, but otherwise as one would expect with Whitehall mandarins in charge. Hillarious.

Sadly Nigel Hawthorne died, (best part The Madness of King George), but what a legacy. He is quite simply brilliant as Sir Humphrey Appleby. Leading the PM around by his nose. Unmissable.

Love to get a copy of Dads Army, ages old but my son is madly into the UK end of the WW2 and his grandad used to love it. Never seen it in Tuk. Any ideas anyone????????/

Well, I live in Thailand though have a way to watch these final Soprano episodes real time.

These final episodes have been absolutely some of the best tv ever. I am starting to feel sad that it is soon going to really be over, forever.

Know what you mean Jingthing. Hard act to follow. Intrigued as to how you are able to watch HBO/USA in LOS. Some techy thing I expect.

Suggest you get DVDs and re-watch episodes. I regularly miss out on one or two scripted lines, or even nuances of looks between characters. Definitely worth another look in my view.

Strongly suspect David Chase will "leave the door open" on Sopranos 2 or whatever, despite the main characters insistance that he will not do any more.

When the dosh is running out and his fame dwindles (probably due to type-casting) methinks

he may well reconsider.

EFL, I am sure you would like 'House".

It stars another Brit - Hugh Lawrie, as a very crotchety, super brilliant diagnostic specialist. Very popular in the USA, and won awards. Good drama and wonderful cynical humour from Lawrie - with an American accent so good you'd never believe he was in 'Jeeves and Wooster'.

I will definitely try six feet under.

Let me know the final outcome of the Soprano DVD lending saga. And add my name to the list :o

Hi Mobi

I have all the "Six Feet Under" sets, welcome to borrow a set see if you like it before buying.

Series Five is the best, but also the (very definite) conclusion. PM me if so, we'll fix up a drop off point.i

Hugh Lawrie is brilliant. Caught one or two of the "House" episodes somewhere (Singapore I think), is the full title "House" ? Looked before in Tuk but did not see it. Was he something to do with the original Monty Python crew? Didn'the go to Cambridge with the other lot? Not sure now.

It's Called 'House' and definitely in TUK. I just bought series 2 and 3 coz I've seen most of series 1 on TV.

Hugh Lawrie - wrong era. Monty Python guys are all in their 60's now. Hugh made his name on British TV, and did a comedy series with Steven Fry, as well as Jeeves and Wooster (he was Wooster), then did one or two minor hit movies in Hollywood before landing 'House'. I'd say he's in his late 40's. He's also a very talented pianist - following in the tradition of the late Dudley Moore. (I think he is also Oxbridge)

Thanks for the offer of 6 Ft.

I'm in no hurry - will let you know. :o

Am I correct in saying that I'll be giving the episodes to someone on Saturday at Carrefour? If we could do it around 10 or 11 that would be good for me, but I'm flexible.

Hi Jimmy, yeah, I'll meet you there, but will be driving down from BKK. Could you do maybe 12 or 1PM? I'll PM you and we can exchange mobile #s. Anyone else that wants these, please PM me, as I don't live in Pattaya and would like to also find a way to get them to you on Saturday.

  • 2 months later...

Just to report that I finally met English Farang Lady yesterday (she had a white carnation on in her lapel :D ), and she handed over the coveted last 6 episodes of Sopranos.

I watched the first two last night and they are riveting :D

Many thanks to all who have helped to bring this drama to the Mobi mansion, and particularly to Jimmyd., who did all the hard work. :o

BTW, EFL told me she is leaving Thailand today, and doesn't know if, or when she will be back.

I for one will miss her gentle and interesting posts. Bon Voyage EFL :D

I have a major crisis!!!

I have watched episodes 13 through 18 of series 6 (6 episodes), but I can't play the 'finale' one.

EFL, for some reason you gave me 4 discs, two of which both contain the 'extras' and the 'finale' of Sopranos. I can play everything on this disc except the finale. I just get sound - no picture. I have tried it on several dvd machines and my pc. All the same - no picture.

The last episode I watched ended with Tony stoned, looking out over the Grand Canyon (I think?) with a las Vegas whore. Is there one more after this or 2?

Somebody - Jimmy - help me!!

I have all of the episodes of the Sopranos and (Deadwood) American versions on DVD. Any one can borrow them for viewing. Please do not copy them. This is my warning, if someone borrows and copies the game is over. Hey I bought them at full price.

I thoroughly recommend Boston Legal (hilarious) and Deadwood.

I've never been a western fan but Deadwood is something different - and once you've watched it it will spoil you for all the other wsterns that have ever been made. Ian McShane is a revelation.

I still have the episodes you seek. I will give them to you if promise to give them back. I am a true believer in copywrite laws. Please, please do not copy them! Again, I have most of the HBO seies from America, these I'll let enyone view. The price is...well, nothing. Please return if you borrow.
