Phuket airport asks to relocate testing on arrival ahead of expected tourism surge

PHUKET: Phuket International Airport has formally requested that RT-PCR tests of tourists arriving from abroad no longer be conducted at the airport. The request comes ahead of an expected surge in the number of tourists this month, and in the months following.

 

The formal request came at a meeting at the airport with Phuket Vice Governor Pichet Panapong and Phuket Provincial Public Health Office (PPHO) Chief Dr Kusak Kukiattikoon yesterday (Nov 11).

 

“The process takes a lot of space and requires specialized personnel,” Phuket airport General Manager Monchai Tanode explained.

What is the point of retesting fully vaccinated arriving intl passengers when they’ve had an Rt-pcr test no longer than three days prior to getting on a plane?  Non vaxxed passengers go to quarantine where testing can take place, no?

Because people are still arriving infected.  During initial Sandbox, people tested positive 1st test, 2nd test, and a few not until 3rd test.  As long as that happens, and the paranoia of infected people arriving continues, the testing will be never ending.

Didn't I read that the proposal of changing RT-PCT to ATK ("quicktest") has been discarded?
Don't think bad like securing profit for the first night hotel/transport.
