Sanook reported on a press conference in which the chief of Thailand PCT or Cyber Police Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat appeared alongside Mr Christopher Rohde, a US secret Service rep attached to the US Embassy in Bangkok.

Gen Damrongsak told how joint operations with the met police in Bang Len, Nakhon Pathom had uncovered a place used to print fake notes with 36,000 discovered.

Further inquiries led to the arrest of a forger called Mack in Rama 3 and the search of a house in Muang Phetchaburi.

Subsequent arrests were made of a man called Bunchuay or Pali in Huay Kwang and a man called Kitjaphat on November 12th.

This resulted in the recovery of 10,000 bills totalling 30 million baht in value.

Mr Rohde showed the press how to spot fake US bills by looking at the kind of material used that wasn't really paper at all, watermarks on the right, the absence of USA100 numbers and the nature of the ink used in the number of the bills.

People were urged to call the PCT on 1599 if they had information about the forgery of currency.
