I think what your missing is your insurance should go down each renewal as you gain more no claims bonus.. Moving to a new company (if you dont transfer your NCB) means your starting from scratch again.

So its not a penalty premium (increase) its a lack of discount (discount) your missing out on.

I have 3 years NCB accrued now and wouldnt bother to claim for a tyre..

Ok, here we go:

Last Friday when I went home with my car from work I had t stop at our front gate as usual toget inspected by our security guards. I opened my trunk from inside the car so that he could have a look.

I looked into the mirror just when he closed the trunk and I could see how he pushed down with his hands the rear spoiler for that. I thought OUCH............

When I arrvved home I inspected my spoiler and saw what happened........

Right away I called my boss to report this incident, when I would come back on Monday and tell them what happened on a Friday it would look a bit suspicious.

I was very lucky and it was still on our CCTV system very clear to see after zooming.

So the manager from our security came today to talk about that incident ( and my boss suggested to find a compromise...)

I said there's no compromise for me, I've phoned to NISSAN already and asked about the price for a new spoiler, bit more than 10k Baht.

May be we can find a cheaper copy was their idea, I said "NO"tal to my wife coz the car belongs to her(true).

My point of view: I am not willing to replace an original part wth a chinese copy and I want to repair this at a NISSAN garage, that's it!

So my wife called the manager when I came home and he will let her know what to do tomorrow morning......

Than I asked my wife about my very expensive BOSS suit which she has picked up from a dry laundry this afternoon:

"Onve upon a time there was a Boss suit.................."

Totally ruined, looks as someone had a shower(a hot one)with my suit on and participated afterwoods in the Phuket Marathon to get it dry again.

By the way:

I've bought 3 Jatukams today to make my staff smile and happy :o

Have a nice evening all!

Why are they called 'spoilers'. I thought they were towel rails for use when you drive to the beach. Leave it off, it doesn't do anything except cause drag.

First class insurance allows you to avoid hassles like this (in fact one never even has to say a word to the other party, ever)... although yes, it's arguable whether one still wants to insure an older car like that with tier one insurance.

Myself, I look at it from the point of view that you're purchasing first class service in terms of handling accidents/incidents, and less so simply covering the value of the car, and thus we still insure even our 7+ year old cars with first class insurance.

:o

Not true. If you have a claim with first class insurance your insurance premium goes up with a considerable amount the year after, often more than if you just paid to fix the problem yourself.

Not true. If you get the insurance rep. to come out to the accident scene and you're not at fault - as in the OP's case, your premium's don't go up a single satang. They'll collect from the other party right there on the spot (and even if they cannot... as long as it's on record that there's another party, you still don't have to pay and your premiums don't go up).

Your premium's will most definitely go up if you make claims when there is no other party responsible: you come back to your car in a shopping center and your car is damanged, damage to your car because of acts of nature, you feel like you want to fix up your car and bit and commit insurance fraud, etc...

In the end, it's only money. But with first class insurance, the point is that you don't have to deal with anyone, the insurance folks do it for you. All you need to do is call them and make your way to the nearest coffee shop, bar, etc. for a little relaxation.

:D

Latest update:

As some of your replies suggested I agreed to get a 2nd hand spare part from BKK, re-spray it and get it fixed on the trunk.................

"OK Mr. Gerd, now I've found the right spoiler for your car, I'll come tomorrow morning to your work and pick up the car.

Friend of mine has a shop and is a specialist in spoilers. I come back with your car at 5pm and every thig will be perfect."

He came back at 5pm as promised:

Car not finished, tomorrow one more time..........

"Your spoiler has not been the original part, but I've got the original one" he said.

The friend's shop is close where I work, but when I checked the Km's on my car's clock they drove more than 60 kilometers..........

2nd day, yesterday:

Again at 5pm he came back..........

"Sorry, not finished today, not good weather for painting..............."

But: 2 new big holes thrilled into the trunk(for his "original" Nissan spoiler) and trunk has a new painting but very easy to see not the original colour, much darker...........

I nearly freaked out :o

Enough is enough!!!

We will meet this morning at the local Nissan dealer to get the cost for a spoiler, may be a new trunk door and the painting. After this "meeting" going to a Police station for making a report to fix the payment.

I have tried to be "graeng chai" and help this people to save money..........

2 weeks ago the manager from this security company told me that he is born here in Phuket and is living here his entire live, yesterday he told me he is from BKK and does not understand the southern accent :D

And I've planned to drive to BKK with wife and our dogs this Friday to go to a dog show.

Wish me luck and a very, very cool heart for today.

Gerd

The original spoiler have not to be drilled, just clip on the side of the trunk, two screw each siede. The price of 10 k is not expensive if its original. Baisicly Cefiros look better with spoilers. Sure you can take it off, it's not necessary things to have a spoiler on your car. But what is necessary? Gold. Rolex or a 38'000 Baht handphone are not necessary either. Some peaple, even me like to have a life in style. I had all the nicest cars before, but than i changed my mind.

My cars always got damaget by other peaple. So finally after 10 years i lived here, i bouht a 30 year old Toyota Crown, rusty, ugli with strong steel bumpers for 35'000 Baht. I spent another 30k for suspension, engine and interior. Drive the car now for 3 years, never spent one Baht for Bodywork. I not even regonize if he gets one scratch more. I don't care. One thing i learned: Dont have anything nice overhere. Everything have to be ugly and old and strong. No plastic cars!. So you'll never get any headache. So i paid 65'000 Baht for a comfortable junk car, easy to repair, no electronic problems, no headache. It's the best you can do.

Hi

Just a thought but maybe it had been repaired before and thats why it was weak, for me i would take the money get a S/H one, remember if you push them to hard they will probably do your car later or worse, i no its annoying but sometimes you have to make the best of a bad experience, whatever you do you will be looked at as jai dam falang.
