Former Thai government chief whip Wirat Rattanaseth denied all the charges at the first hearing of the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Political Officer Holders, in a corruption case involving the 4.4 billion baht construction of futsal courts in several north-eastern provinces.

The Pheu Thai MP and 86 other individuals, including local politicians, businessmen and educational officials, have been charged by the public prosecutors with malfeasance in office, misuse of power, price collusion and corruption in the futsal court project about a decade ago.

The other 86 defendants, who attended the trial, also denied the charges.

First rule....when a politicians lips are moving he is lying.  2nd rule, when a politician denies something occurred, the opposite is true. 3rd thing when the evidence has been collected deny evidence exists and bribe someone to destroy it....

Yep.

Commonplace the world over.

Fourth rule -- when trial beckons against all odds, purchase a zimmer frame, walking stick, plenty of bandages and fall gravely ill immediately.

The futsal court project about a decade ago.

The pace of prosecution for corruption cases is truly unique here.  10 years.

And during that time everyone was free on bail.

The Pheu Thai MP and 86 other individuals.... Looting the state coffers and stealing from the people is apparently a national sport here.

Yes, it is. And one that the SPORTS and Tourism Minister always avoids highlighting in his glitzy brochures distributed to foreign cash cows visitors.
