Popular Post ThailandRyan
The confusion is very evident. Elsewhere in the world these numbers would be close to 2x's what it was 2 days ago, and so on. Today we should be seeing almost 12k cases if we extrapolate from 2 days ago. Someone is either confused as to where to gather the numbers from as we can see by both the above sets of numbers, and then the possibility of a lack of testing this entire week. Maybe people have tested positive on the ATK tests and instead of retesting with a PCR test they have gone into self isolation or better yet since they are asymptomatic they do not give a flying f and need to continue to work as there is no life line for them as there is in the western countries. It is amazing as I think this group is scrambling to assess the totality, decided to create new rules which other countries have abandoned or never went to, and are in a complete panic as they feel they have lost control because many want to move on. The GF's take on this is that instead of rolling with it they will shut the entire country down and we will be back to where we were after the Songkran debacle.

Bkk Brian
A bit of confusion this morning when the number of new cases released by the CCSA (8,263) didn’t match the dashboard of the Department of Disease Control (9,508). The DDC has since reduced their number to match that of the CCSA. Makes you wonder which one is correct. #Thailand https://twitter.com/RichardBarrow/status/1479629593988370434 Edited January 8, 2022 by Bkk Brian

Popular Post dinsdale
It is I believe very important to break this down into Delta/Omicron. I think it's safe to say this surge is Omicron driven but at what %. Has there been an increase in Delta along with Omicron? This of course would not be good. Is Omicron pushing Delta out (which recently a Thai expert said would not happen but is being seen around the world)? These are questions that can only be answered when numbers are broken down into the two groups of infections. 3

mommysboy
In UK, the death rate appears very low. We really need a bit of proportion and context here. Also in the UK, the unsung hero appears to be AZ, due its T cell protection, and that may bode well for Thailand too. It really is a life saver for old people, and possibly the best overall. I believe Thais are more accessible to public health advice, and this combined with some regulation may keep cases down to around 50k a day imo, compared with 170k in UK and some European countries.
