Popular Post snoop1130
BANGKOK, Jan 11 (TNA) – Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha is happy with Thailand being considered as the best place to retire in Asia and the 11th best place for the purpose worldwide, according to the government spokesman. Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, the spokesman, said Thailand ranked 1st in Asia and 11th worldwide in the “World’s Best Places to Retire in 2022” rankings that International Living magazine announced on Jan 1. The prime minister thanked all Thai people for their hospitality towards each other and towards foreigners and it contributed to such good rankings for the country for a long time, the spokesman said. Popular Post milys
I guess this is another "Super Poll" based on 170 people or so. It's pretty stupid with these pro Prayuth polls. Recently 75% of the thai people praised the governments response to the pandemic in another super poll. That time there was 240 persons answering the questions in a country of 70 million. Ridiculous ! They sure know what they did and that's why they tried to give themselves amnesty for how they handled the pandemic.. I would say that screams guilty. 5

To Germany? You're kidding, are you? If not, you might be wrong. Those hundreds of thousands coming in the last years to Germany from Syria, Afghanistan, Irak and such countries, are mostly far too young to retire ???? Popular Post jerrymahoney
I know many folks on here do not believe in statistical sampling methods and they know how 'most' Thais really feel. According to Wikipedia., these represent the ideology of Prayut's Palang Pracharath Party: New Right Policy: National conservatism Right-wing populism Thai nationalism Monarchism Pro-military Corporatism Anti-globalization Illiberalism I will guess when they are asked of their opinion anonymously without their neighbors and others looking on, there is a sizable component in Thailand who agree with those issues. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palang_Pracharath_Party
Popular Post Blumpie
I understand all too well that someone who runs from their problems - their problems just follow them. When you are negative, thinking that you're going to drop everything and suddenly be happy in Thailand is fairly common. Agree with most here - your money is all that they want. Like many parts of Asia, you are always a foreigner no matter what and you will never be accepted as anything but. Expats fail to realize this until they move. Dual pricing is rampant in Thailand. Unsafe roads, pollution, and visas that are meant to be problematic and paying off officials at local offices to get paperwork done. Or you don't have to give them some bhat and come back another day with a copy of something something something.... And your version of democracy will be severely challenged. In short, you have no real say in how things go for you. It adds up until you decide that it simply isn't worth it. For some it is. For those whom it is, consider that you will have to put up with it or move to be happy. If you don't accept these terms you will be very very unhappy but that is your choice. I wish that it were different but the reality is it isn't going to change. 12

I meant someone particular ????, who we are not supposed to name... Ahh, that one. My almost neighbor. What a funny guy. Hope he will not be very disppointed when he has to pay communal tax here in future. Never mind, Mr. strawberry lover, it's just pocket money and far less expensive than to buy a jet out of custody. 2

Popular Post blazes
Yes, all retirees just LOVE those 90-day visits to Immigration to prove they still exist and have not recently committed any crimes. The sense of security it gives the retiree to meet a genuine Immigration Officer who has our best interests at heart is precisely why we come to Thailand, and stay away from those countries like Mexico or Spain which don't invite us to their offices every 90 days and who just let us get on with our lives. 12 2

This twaddle is how commies roll. Your people hate you as much, if not more, than the foreigners that have to jump through EVERY hoop perpetually just to remain legal. Get in a coma, end up on overstay, buy a vehicle d photocopy a trees worth, buy land? lol, etc etc. Wind your neck in grandad and just go and do one for the sake of humanity! 4

Popular Post Isaan sailor
On the subject of visas, it seems curious that my Thai wife had few issues qualifying for her B2 American visa—and it lasts for 10 years. Renewal should be a breeze, too. Meanwhile, I jump through hoops every year for my visa (and update it every 90 days).

Popular Post mikebell
Pure propaganda. The smug smile says it all. You cannot buy land or a house; you will be asked to jump through hoops every 90 days; take your life in your hands every road trip; face corruption/ineptitude at every official venue; each inhalation of carcinogenic air contributes to a health risk; I won't mention the wild dog packs as one sensitive member has rebuked me for this. The PM is correct - a perfect place to retire. 2

When my Thai wife's green card had to be renewed I went online filled out a form paid the money maybe a week later we would get a letter giving a date and time to go to the immigration office in Atlanta she would have her finger print done and her picture taken. She would receive her new card in the mail in a week or so
Popular Post brianthainess
He really has no idea whatsoever, what a clown. I would like to invite him to come on the process of gaining my marriage extension, taking 6 photos at home, spending a day with me, wife, and witness, coming to the bank, Cor ror 2 , signing 61 document copies, coming back for the home visit, and being questioned and photographed again, maybe he'd want to sit on our bed together for the photo op. But my wife would yak yak him so much she'd probably get arrested. 2
