A video posted to the FM91 page yesterday showed the moment when a white Honda was turning into offices at Chulalongkorn University off Phayathai Road in downtown Bangkok.

The driver hesitates as a black Mercedes Benz comes down the road at speed and there is a collision.

Both cars overturned.

Naew Na reported that the Benz went through a red light.

It was broad daylight - 10.04 am.

The Benz was being driven by a man called Phuri and the Honda by a woman called Krajangsri.

No other details such as potential injuries were given.

That MB driver must have been busy on his phone or something to hit the Honda square on like this and the red light bit has nothing to do with the outcome...

The MB is thinking the Honda will continue the turn and the MB will pass the ass of the Honda.

The MB went through a red light and is totally guilty the honda thought he could go and all of a sudden saw a speeding car going at her. The decision was wrong but clearly the MB is the main guilty party and should be held liable and lose his license or more. Going through red lights is something that should really be cracked down on.

But your right that the honda could have gone faster but that does not excuse the MB.

Sure the honda made a mistake not going through.

From watching the video, it appears he was speeding and probably did not have the experience or ability to control his vehicle to avoid the collision.

That's not careful, that's not being sure of your driving capabilities. Some equate slow with safe, false assumption.

Correct it depends on the situation but in many cases slow is safer. Not in this case though. I have been frozen in the past while driving my motorbike. I was 16, helmet fogged up raining all of a sudden a obstacle appeared on the road and i froze. Thankfully the crash was not too bad. I should have steered away or hit my brake. Not everyone always responds right to danger.

I certainly did not at that time ????, some who saw the accident were amazed i stood up. Bike was damaged a lot.

We've probably all been there. Recently driving through an odd configured 4 way stop I couldn't see what light was mine or where it was at so I followed the car in front who was running a red light apparently, I could have caused an accident had I not sped up and completed my turn. Relative motion keeps you safe.

really, sorry to disagree, slow is fine, the problem occures when you have lunatics driving at high speed, if everyone took their time and was careful then you wouldn't have accidents like this - who do you blame

Definitely the MB vault by speeding through a red light. The white car hesitates because she does not know what the MB wants to do. She expects it to drive in front of her and so slows to let it through.

Usually when turning into a driveway its to avoid scrapping the front valance. Even so the Merc as driven through the red light.

Or thought the speeding car would go across their front, so they stopped.

MB driver screwed this pooch and Honda driver just read the situation badly, but not unreasonable.

Because most here do not respect red light, so better move with caution. The Benz mus also be the wost possible driver, 3 lanes to avoid and made the worst possible choice. Not to mention the car was probably aroun 100 kph for such impact

It's absolutely the MB's fault for running red light. Here in Thailand you either have slow idiots or fast ones.

Because there might be an idiot in a Benz coming screaming through a red light?

For sure Benz thought Honda would turn and this is why he went to the right . As pointed out already both absolute morons but legally Honda in the wrong

rubbish, your argument might make sense on a motorway were slow driving is a Hazzard, this is a city street were speed limits exist, driving slowly and carefully within speed limits would drastically reduce accidents, that is a fact

exactly

For goodness sake, why did the Honda driver go so slow then stop!! If you're crossing traffic, get across as quickly as possible.

Normal standard of driving in this country not only Thais but 90 % of road users, you cant educate stupid

It's common knowledge (also in Europe) that Mercedes and Toyota Fortuner drivers think they're paying for built-in right-of-way when they buy a car????

When I moved to Thailand in 2002 I lived off of Soi 71.  Shortly after moving there I was in a taxi going up 71st to Phetchaburi road on my way to Fortune Town mall.  At the corner we encountered a traffic accident.  Involved was a Mercedes-Benz, a Jaguar, and a big BMW.  The most expensive traffic collision I have ever seen.
