Is that true with a small amount like $60-100 also? Thanks

A 100 Euro would end in 3554 Baht.

TW 3620 Baht.

Not a big headache for a single transaction.

Going on ‘Wise’ website might be a good start.

  • Yes but your best option for rates and costs is "Wise".  As has been discussed on multiple occasion on this forum. Especially if you transfer money on a regular basis. So forget WU and banks!

On my Wise site it says: Due to regulatory changes in Thailand, transfers of 50,000 THB and above will only be available for Kasikorn Bank, Bangkok Bank, and Siam Commercial Bank recipients. Effe

First you need to open a Wise Account.

For this they need to verify your Identity with Passport Etc

The full procedures are on the " Wise " Website.

Not necessary for transfers. The verification is quite complicated and is only necessary if you want the full bank facilities.

So Western Union OK for a small amount while Wise is much better for a large amount?

Thanks so much for clearing that up. Is it similar to in simplicity to Western Union for a transfer? Where can the recipients get a Wise transfer and where can the recipients get a Western Union transfer?

What is your bank?

Mine (USA financial institution) ... irrelevant. Yours is the one that matters.  As someone implies, but wrong, mine has no hidden cost or different exchange rate used.  BkkBank incoming wires cost min/max charge of 200-500 baht.

Screenshots of my bank policy, for those waiting to state it's BS:

I have never done a simple transfer but the info is here https://wise.com/

I have the full account with a debit card and have used that for transfers which have worked very well.

Don't know about western union but have seen their kiosks at various locations around Thailand where I believe they can collect a transfer.

If you have a Thai bank account just get there acct#

Have a friend with a Thai bank account?

No Thai gonna want to deal with that drama.

Thanks. The reason I asked what bank is because mine charges $45 for an international wire. Maybe time I changed.

If a Yank, then I believe any of the JP Morgan Chase or Charles Schwab financial institutions / subsidies, don't charge all the silly fees that others do.  I use one of those.

Yes....Schwab $15 flat fee per transfer initiated online which is easy to do. ATM fees refunded if you go that route.

Is that for a US address Schwab account, an International Schwab account or both?

Thanks.

Hopefully someone will know current rules re WISE transfers.

So today and tomorrow I need to bring in 3million baht from Oz.

Previously I have used my KTB bank account.

I also have a Kasikorn account.

I recall reading in one of the threads about limits of 50k with some banks.

I also checked WISE and notice they have limit of 2million.

Is that per day or per transaction.

TIA.

How much can I send?

You can send up to 2 million THB per transfer.

Please note that you’ll only be able to send 50,000 THB or above per transfer to the following banks starting from 7 January 2022 due to regulatory changes:

  • Bangkok Bank Public Company

  • Kasikorn Bank

  • Siam Commercial Bank

You can still send money to recipient accounts that use other banks, but you’ll only be allowed to send them up to 49,999 THB per transfer. There’s no limit on how many transfers you can create.

@DrJack54

Question: Have you ever send money to that KSK account with Wise?

If not, just first send a test amount 10k THB for example.

Just a suggestion of course.

That sounds the sensible thing to do but think I will just do the two transactions total 3 mill.

I have not used my K Bank account previously.

One further question if I may.

In the list from your posted link.

I see point 4 "account number"

I thought I would also need "branch number"

The branch number in my bank book is slightly confusing. Has long number adjacent to "service branch"

Also a code in Red Print.

I only used my Account number and it arrived always, but that SAID I only send to SCB and BBL never to KSK!

But my thought is that if they know the account number they (KSK Head office) know which Branch you are using.

For my Wise > K-Bank tx I just use account number, no need for branch info.

Seriously, is this a wind-up?

Plenty of mobs will t/f money with fair rates.

But what do you use for the Swift Code??

Just now, DrJack54 said:

Thankyou.

Read the link.

For swift code it asks to copy this:

KASITHBKXXX

What is the XXX.

Branch Code!

Sounds like you haven't purchased mush real estate.

I can assure you the variations are not minor with large amounts.

Will do a test run later today.

WISE vs OFX.

Just to compare 2 companies.

Dr Jack54,

@Digitalbananapost above is exactly what I did to get Wise to send to my Kasikorn account, only need account number, no branch number or swift code.

Money arrives within seconds when I send at 2045 Thursday evenings for my transfers. Been working well for months

He! How would wise know that it is KSK you are sending to if it doesn't need a SWIFT CODE

This is the screen I am seeing when adding a NEW Recipient in Wise

I think Dr Jack54 is sending money from Australia not EUROPE

Aha I see it now

@DrJack54

In Wise 'Dont Click ADD receipent" but CLICK add your Bank account and change the Currency to THB.

Then you will see a Drop Down Bank of Thai Banks

And then just fill in your Account Number

If buying property using Wise transfers ensure you select the correct reason for transfer for it to be classed as International transfer. Long stay or buying a property
