So who is responsible for maintaining surveillance and correcting wrongdoing? Where is the almighty jackboot of Prayuth when you need him!

Perhaps, if the venerable police force had done their job and "mass inspected" fishing fleets BEFORE the status downgrade, there wouldn't have been a downgrade in the first place, making this sudden scrambling unnecessary. Just a thought.

always after the fact which is exactly what is wrong with this country, no need to expand that any further because everyone sees it day after day year after year

Not uncommon, after the disaster in the UK with the flat where so many died all of a sudden there were checks everywhere. Same goes for my country after a gas boiler exploded all of a sudden checks were made in all places. Governments often react this way after a problem.

Not an really Thai thing but a human thing. Just think of all those people starting to exercise after a heart attack. They did not do it before. Its human nature.
