snoop1130
A thief stole a motorbike from a staffer in front of a convenience store in Banglamung this past Sunday (February 6th). Ms. Wachira Inthasing, 32, a staffer of a convenience store, told The Pattaya News with CCTV footage, “My motorbike was in front of the convenience store at the entrance of Soi Toonglom Talman, Nongprue, while I was working inside. The motorbike was locked.” “Three men on a motorbike stopped in front of the convenience store before one of them managed to unlock my motorbike very quickly,” Wachira explained. Popular Post bbko
Several years back my wife bought a new motorbike, it was only 2-3 months old and one night she was driving home and was thirsty so she stopped in a nearby 7-11 to buy a water. When she pulled up there were 2 Thai guys sitting nearby, she locked her steering column and went inside, it that brief 3 minute trip, those 2 Thai guys tried to steal her bike, the steering column was locked so they tried to kick the front wheel hard enough to break the locking pin. My wife exits the 7-11 and gets on her bike and while driving home notices the steering is off, she takes it to the dealer the next day and they check it out and she tells them how/when the problem started, they tell her, it's very common for motorbike thieves to wait outside convenience stores and when a new bike pulls up the will kick the locking pin and use another bike rider to help push the stolen bike away.

My missus uses a padlock through the front disk. Takes only a second to put on & off, but is a deterrent to thieves.

ross163103
Be careful if you have an older Honda Wave; a relative of my wife got his stolen in Pattaya--and it was a real POS. The police told him thieves are targeting these especially. I guess they must be taking the engines out and selling them because there wasn't much on the bike worth selling. These days I just park where it can't happen. 1

Sounds like a good way to get into a fight, on the rare occasion someone has blocked me in, I simply roll their bike to the side and I drive my bike around town almost everyday, to being blocked so often that you feel the need to carry "a few" padlocks is baffling. I never carried my thoughts out, doing what you suggest.... but the ignorance is mind numbing here. Sometimes they put the steering lock on making moving it impossible. ross163103
I use a disc lock but have seen cases where thieves just pull up in a pickup and lift the bike into it. I guess if a thief wants it bad enough they'll get it somehow. You just kind of hope whatever you do is a deterrent and they move on to an easier target.
