Google Watches The Videos You Upload To Google Drive

Here's the evidence:

The file was an episode of an hour long current affairs program on a well known American TV channel, which I watch using an IPTV service. I then send the Google Drive links to a mate for him to watch.

So what are the options?

 - A different storage/hosting site?

 - Encrypt files before uploading?

Any recommendations greatly appreciated.

So you watch this show live, and download/record it, then upload it to Drive, then send him the link?

And this worked for a while, until it didn't? What changed?

What is the show?

What filename did you use?

How big is the file?

Can your mate not source this show on his own? https://ustvgo.tv/ for example?

Can you host the file and allow him to download from your PC?

Another hosting site might work but they all have terms and conditions.

Well for one you seem to be sharing content to which you do not own intellectual property rights or licensed agreement to record and share that content.

It is well known that Google and others are monitoring their systems with their various tools, algorithms and personnel.

It is not only google monitoring but also many other law and media rights organisations monitoring who is recording and sharing content, it was probably reported as infringing content to google who then took action.

A descendant of the (in)famous Megaupload of Kim Dotcom.

Files are automatically encrypted.

The hoster can't read the content.

You send a link with the decryption key to the recipient.

Proper account password recommended of course.

Nothing less than 16 characters for me.

Excellent questions!

Here are the answers:

So you watch this show live, and download/record it, then upload it to Drive, then send him the link?  Record it from IPTV service but, basically, yes

And this worked for a while, until it didn't? What changed?  Nothing that I did. Apparently the lefty loonies at Google don't like Tucker.

What is the show? "Tucker Carlson Tonight" on Fox.

What filename did you use?  "Tucker yyyy mm dd"

How big is the file? About 120 MB - edited down to 40 minutes and resized.

Can your mate not source this show on his own? https://ustvgo.tv/ for example? He has that link, but that is a live stream which he may miss.

Can you host the file and allow him to download from your PC?  Might be a bit too technical for him (and me) to do - much simpler to give him a link.

"Another hosting site might work but they all have terms and conditions."  True but, hopefully, not infested by left wing, liberal, democrat, Biden loving morons.

The email clearly states "Misleading Content policy". So it's nothing to do with intellectual property rights, etc, it's purely that they don't like what is being said on the show. Cancel Culture in action.

Yes! I've been a member for quite a few years, so will actually start to use them - or a similar site - soon.

I just uploaded the 5 separate sections of the show to Google Drive, to see if they will send me another email saying which section(s) "violate" their "Terms Of Service".

I wonder if I can attach the whole show to a post here? It's about 119 MB in length...

Works and no terms and conditions regarding content.

See above.

No idea why people allow getting bothered by Google/Youtube etc.

Try to upload a TV drama or the like to Youtube.

Takes about 10 seconds for upload hidden and your account being punished or deleted.

If you want to cling to Google you could manually encrypt the file before upload.

Your friend can then download and decrypt with your instruction.

Don't use Gmail :cheesy:

(they are reading/scanning your mails, no joke)

Ah, I wondered how that would work. Definitely on my short list.

A highly secret picture of my dog, just uploaded:

You will see it in picture (pre)view but can also be downloaded.

It's also possible to just send a link to the encrypted file and send the key on a separate channel (messenger, email). I never tried.

I've no emotional attachment to Google, but they do make things so easy.

Good point about not sending the decryption key with Gmail!  Fortunately he has a Yahoo account too.

So now I want to cancel my 2TB Google Drive (Google Play) subscription and check out Mega or NordLocker or ...?

Nice dog! Nice blue railings with the gold spikes at the top!

Does it cost?

Damn right it does! 3,500 Bt/yr for 2TB. I don't know why I got so much. I'm using less than 200 GB and I think Mega has a 500 GB deal.

This has always been the case. They don't actually 'watch' it, that would take man-hours, but their AI does. A few years back I got a file flagged for copyright or something, and immediately had my Google account suspended (that means all accounts - Youtube, Gmail, Drive), and they refused to look into the case or tell me what the problem was. Had to get a mate who worked at Google to pull some strings and get it looked over and revoked, as it was apparently a false positive.

I just tried 4 times to upgrade my old free Mega account to the "Pro Lite" plan (400GB), and the payment failed each time.

What I get is this:

SWW.jpg.acb195ad7e7d29054a19c152bc5d1f7b.jpg

I've sent Mega an email about it. Very frustrating - I tried 2 cards, twice each: one card for an English bank and one for a Thai bank.

Both cards have worked in the last few months elsewhere, so maybe it's a problem at Mega.
