CCSA Says No Changes to COVID Restrictions

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has resolved to keep existing disease control measures unchanged for the time being. The prime minister is meanwhile urging people to maintain precautions against COVID-19 despite the lower number of critical patients and deaths.

 

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said infection numbers are rising despite there being fewer severe cases. The public is therefore urged to continue taking precautions and following disease prevention guidelines. The premier assured healthcare facilities have enough capacity to accommodate patients. He also noted that the government has been addressing pressing issues with budgetary and time limitations to consider.

 

CCSA Spokesperson Taweesilp Visanuyothin said the CCSA meeting on Friday (11 Feb) resolved to keep disease control measures unchanged. People in the Blue Zone tourism pilot areas, where infection numbers have been climbing, are urged to strictly observe health measures in order to curb transmissions.

 

Dr Taweesilp noted that more children are contracting the Omicron coronavirus variant during this wave of outbreaks compared to the previous Delta variant. Authorities are therefore encouraging parents to get their children vaccinated as soon as possible.

 

The CCSA meeting also endorsed the issuance of antigen test kit (ATK) services that are more accessible and economical for the public. The spokesperson said up to 56,000 ATKs are expected to sell daily from March 1 onward. The price per kit is projected to drop to 55 baht by then, from 80 baht currently.

A lot of other countries are going the other way, and easing restrictions.

However, most of those countries have not got an emergency decree in place, in order to keep an unelected leader in power !

Don't hold your breath waiting for the tourist rush, it an't going to happen while all the restrictions are in place. A holiday means fun and relaxation not a life governed by restrictions.

I'm starting to question if Thailand is the country i really want to retire in.

 

I wouldn't accept living under such rules when it's clear that's it's perfectly safe to carry on with no restrictions after omicron surfaced.

 

So for now I'm happy to live in a country that dropped all restrictions even if the weather is <deleted>.

If everyone gets double vaccinated and double boosted we can open up.  Mix and match vaccines, in the muscle or under the skin, it doesn't matter what you choose as The Science is clear.

 

Keep your double masks on and stay indoors until then.

I retired here age 46 in 2006. If I knew then what I know now, I would have chosen somewhere else and come to visit LOS a couple of times a year. I'm now looking to pick up stakes and find another country. This "slowly being boiled frog" has just about reached his limit.

Would do the same...but in deep with long term GF, house and the rest. Many here in same boat...not easy to pick up and leave...and rfeallly don't want to but will spend more time out of Thailand once travel opens up again

Over are the days where you could book a one way flight to Suvarnabhumi on the spot for 250 GBP/300 EUR, fly in with no other documentation whatsoever than your passport, get a VoA on the spot, use the lift, head for level 0, to the Pattaya bus counter, get a cheap 120 THB (because !@#$ the taxi mafia) ticket to Pattaya, two hours later you'd be in town, ride a motorcycle taxi for 30 THB from the bus station on Thappraya Road to Beach Road and be done with it.

No GF but lots of expensive "stuff." That's what it really comes down to, do I want to take a large financial loss? The "stuff" is looking less valuable each passing day and getting 800k baht released is making it look more viable.

- Which time of the year was it, to get the cheapest one way fare tickets to Suvarnabhumi and which companies to fly with.

- What to pack in our lightweight backpacks, no bulky suitcases were ever needed.

- What to tell to the immigration officer at the airport... we could even tell just by the looks which line to queue at (tip: avoid female Immigration Officers).

- Where to get the cheap bus for Pattaya, how much the fare was and what the departures times were.

- Where to get the best cheapest quality foods in the airport (hint: it was at the food court level 0 conveniently right next to the bus ticket counter).

- Where were located and which currency change booth to use to get the best bang for our cash; lower floor -1 right next to the metro network (hint: SuperRich Orange or SuperRich Green).

- Which data package to get for the best promotions and the best bang for your buck, either through TrueMove, DTAC or AIS and which booth to get it from.

- Where to get a motorcycle taxi in Pattaya to go from the bus station on Thappraya Road straight to either Buakhaow or Beach Rd or even Walking Street depending on the time of the day, knowing how much it really was without being fleeced!

- Where to get a cheap affordable room in the central/south area of town for 350 THB a night without the need to fill up an immigration TM form or make endless unreadable copies of our passports.

- Where to head off in town to which bars on which streets and rotate the "happy hour" draft beers at 39 THB a pop!

- Where to get a nice friendly bird for the night and having the mamasan and the girls jump in your arms because they knew you as a returning regular, feeling overly welcomed as if you were at home!

 

We thought we knew it all, we thought we had it all covered and now all of that is gone. Gone, gone, gone, GONE.

 

My great grandmother used to tell me as a kid, "You don't know what you've lost until it's gone".

 

Therefore, if only we knew how easy we had it back then... if only...

 

Just like you I miss easily travelling on the spot... but I also miss the most "that" Thailand, "that" particular Thailand is gone. ????

 

PS: I'll never forgive the Chinese for their "nasty contribution" to the World.

These continued restrictions are not about public health or science, they are purely about showing power and keeping the common folks struggling as the rich build more wealth.  This is a sad state of affairs which must be ignored by those who care to stay on Thailand.

Daily infections are rising, omnicron hasn’t reached it’s peak.  I think no changes to covid restrictions is a positive thing.
