Posts on Facebook praised the Thai police in Udon Thani after a man produced a knife in the downtown area.

The man - perhaps with mental problems or on drugs - had asked the way to local offices.

When someone said they didn't know he reacted angrily demanding why they didn't know and produced a knife and started hurling expletives.

Up to eight officers responded in 5 minutes.

It happened near the 7-Eleven opposite the KFC shop at UD Town.

Nearby in 2020 two students were stabbed and killed in an incident that shocked the north eastern thai city, reported Siam Rath
