NESDC Says GDP to Hit 3.5 to 4.5% in 2022

BANGKOK (NNT) - The National Economic and Social Development Council (NESDC) has projected that Thailand’s gross domestic product (GDP) could reach 3.5 - 4.5% this year. It also recommended that the government quickly address the issue of household debts by helping debtors restructure their debts.

CCSA Says No Lockdown Needed as Health Ministry Raises COVID Alert to Level 4

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) has insisted that no lockdown will be imposed to bring the current wave of infections under control, even as the Ministry of Public Health raises its COVID alert to Level 4.

Malaysian PM to Visit Thailand

BANGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) – Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will pay an official visit to Thailand as a guest of the government during February 24 – 26, said government spokesperson Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana.

Thailand’s national health hotline in need of call centre help, volunteers

The National Health Security Office (NHSO) 1330 hotlines have been running red hot, with an average of 20,000 calls for help each day. The number of calls yesterday (Monday) jumped to 49,005, as COVID-19 infections surge across the country.

Private Sector Wants Fewer RT-PCR Tests on Visitors

BANGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) – The Thai Chamber of Commerce asks the government to call off a repeated RT-PCR test for COVID-19 on visitors entering the country through the Test & Go scheme on day 5 after their arrival to provide visitors with convenience.

Foreign Experts’ Income Tax Cut to 17%

NGKOK, Feb 22 (TNA) – The cabinet cuts the personal income tax on foreign experts to 17% and ends duplicated taxation on their income from overseas sources to attract them to have long-term stays in the country, said Trisulee Trisaranakul, a deputy government spokeswoman.

Concern mounts over animal welfare in Thailand after hefty cut in feed budget

Thailand’s Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation is complaining about a hefty cut in budget for animal feed, from about 90 million baht annually to just 10 million baht this year, but promises that it will do its best to keep about 26,000 animals in captivity fed.

Soi Dog Foundation celebrates growth of mobile sterilisation programme on World Spay Day

Today, on World Spay Day (February 22), Soi Dog Foundation announced an exciting expansion of its large-scale spay and neuter programme, known as CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return). With over 670,000 dogs and cats spayed/neutered and vaccinated since the foundation started in 2003, the programme is already the largest of its kind in the world.
