Other Russians - the very rich ones - are apparently getting in their private jets and leaving Moscow in droves. The rats are abandoning the sinking ship….

If it pushes them to leave Ukraine it's a good thing.

Yet the country is full of sprawling resources and nuclear and biological weapons of mass destruction...a bad combination in the hands of Wagner.

Let's get real.

The Russian people would never have the balls to just storm the Kremlin themselves.

Something had to give.

I don't know if this coup will work, but even if it does, its impossible to predict what will happen after it does.

What's the alternative?
Waiting for Putin to nuke Ukraine and trigger a global nuclear war?

Lets put a spin on this Russia Coup

https://americanmilitarynews.com/2023/06/videos-russian-coup-attempt-underway-moscow-fortifying-leader-prigozhin-releases-video-taking-over-a-russian-military-hq/

In an audio recording broadcasted on Wagner’s social media on Friday, Prigozhin declared, “The malevolence that the country’s military leadership propagates needs to be eradicated. They have lost sight of justice, and we will ensure its return.” He added, “Those who dare to resist will be perceived as threats and promptly eliminated. This includes all checkpoints obstructing our path and any aircraft hovering overhead.”

In the face of an apparent Russian coup underway, heightened security measures are being enforced across Moscow, with the spotlight shining on Yevgeny Prigozhin.

As Moscow’s key facilities are secured by Russian soldiers aboard armored personnel carriers, high-ranking military officials with prior Wagner affiliations have appealed to the group’s soldiers, urging them to reconsider their actions. “The last thing we need is to unleash a real civil war inside the country. Come back to your senses,” urged Lt. Gen. Vladimir Alekseyev, the deputy chief of Russian military intelligence.

Yea end game for this is so difficult to predict. Unless the National Guard and other Russian Military Units side with Wagner surely this is doomed to failure? Even so it shows Putin has now lost control and is very vulnerable. Keeping my fingers crossed this really is just the start of his demise. Not that the murderer boss of Wagner is any better though but at least he is saying that invading Ukraine was based on a lies.

Some more things to think about. A view from the Ukraine:

https://www.businessinsider.com/putin-coup-underway-impossible-to-stop-ukraine-military-intel-2022-5?op=1

A coup to overthrow Russian President Vladimir Putin is underway and can't be stopped, according to Ukraine's military intelligence chief.

Speaking to Sky News, Major General Kyrylo Budanov said that a Russian military defeat would result in Putin's removal and the country's eventual collapse.

"It will eventually lead to the change of leadership of the Russian Federation," Budanov said, per Sky News. "This process has already been launched." Budanov said "yes" when pressed by Sky News international affairs editor Dominic Waghorn on if this means that a coup attempt is currently in motion.

"A Reuters journalist saw army helicopters open fire at an armed Wagner column that was advancing past the city of Voronezh with troop carriers and at least one tank on a flatbed truck. The city is more than half way along the 680-mile highway from Rostov to Moscow".

Looking at Prigozhin's videos, at no point have I seen him attacking Putin.  Instead he is against the Russian military leadership, who he accuses of "deceiving the president", and putting "false reports on the president's desk".  He goes so as far to say that there are "two agendas, one on the ground, the other on the president's desk".  It's like he thinks that he is coming to Putin's rescue, to save him from his incompetent, agenda seeking, military leaders, maybe with the aim of himself taking over as supreme commander of all Russian armed forces.

Putin isn't going along with this though, accusing Wagner of treason, which puts the kibosh on the whole operation, but I wonder what will happen if Prigozhin does get the support of the rank and file military (which, granted, may be a tough ask given Wagner used them as cannon fodder to probe the Ukrainian line in Bakhmut)?  Would all be forgiven between them, and Putin carries on as a figurehead president?  There would be very little trust between the two I guess - certainly, in their meetings, neither would take the window seat or drink the tea - so more likely, Putin flees and Prigozhin takes it all should that be the path things take.

Many commentators are predicting the "coup" will be crushed though - especially with the Chechans declaring for Putin, and claiming to be headed to intercept Wagner's march to Moscow - likening it to the failed effort to depose Boris Yeltsin, but it will at least hopefully weaken the Russian military should that be the outcome.  But then what?  Putin goes back to business as usual in Ukraine, with his conscript army backed up by Chechan fighters instead of Wagner, or does Russia inexorably fall along the pathway to becoming another Afghanistan, with rival warlords fighting it out for control?  (Maybe the EU and NATO should be putting feelers out to St Petersburg and surroundings to break away from the failed Federation, declare independence, and join their organisations?)

A very interesting time to be alive.

He's trapped like a rat. There's an international arrest warrant out for him. Maybe Hungary or Serbia?
