samuijimmy
The Yacht Club Regatta was held over the last week.... Quite an event, bringing in a lot of money, at a slow time for many businesses... The event was based at the beautiful Centara Hotel in Chawang.... Yachting people from Australia to Hong Kong, were competing .... At the Gala event on Saturday, there were at least 700 people attending the dinner! Here are a few shoots.... I was invited to join the media boat... on Friday & the dinner on Saturday. Edited June 6, 2010 by samuijimmy

Jose
How about like this, gives it a kind of tropical island feeling... Ok with you?
Birdman
yeah ok, but I prefer the more surrealistic view of that. The 2 gigantic walls facing each other with the bright abyss not only in the back...

I hope this will do instead:
samuijimmy
Well this will get the FMP par-tiers, confused... two Haad Rins' KP will never be the same again! Interesting effect though, especially the first pic, looks like an alien cat sitting above the island.... You would probably do well in the Rorschach Inkblot Test.

samuijimmy
I came across this yesterday, very beautiful and worth a look... & it's Free too...!Samui Cultural Centre and Fine Art of South East Asia This place located near Nanthon Hospital. Past Samui Immigration, and turn left at the 7-11 then follow the road through the Temple grounds, after leaving the Temple, this is on the left hand side.... It was actually the bloomin lovely roses that caught my eye! A nice lady appeared and gave us a "grand tour", as there gates and trails to see more!!! ... not a place to rush through, take time to absorb the serenity and quietness of the place.... obviously a work in progress.... Anyone know anything about this place?

samuijimmy
Rainy season is coming! Nov 2011 R Nice picture Rob... Well, I think the rainy season is going to by-pass us here on the islands this November...two days to go.... Heavy rain seems to be hitting hard just about everywhere else on the southern mainland now! Although last week-end was certainly windy and the Kite Surfers where out on the south end of the island... it was actually nice to hear the sounds of crashing waves.... Virt
Here is a few of the pictures i shot during the 3 weeks. Just shot on a compact panasonic so nothing fancy. Got a nasty scratch on my lens and some dust on the sensor, so that's why there are spots, blurred areas. Got to get a new camera for next years vacation. Have tons of full hd 1080p videos from all the places we been to, but that have to wait until i got time to edit some footage. We miss Samui so much......... Great shots Virt, glad you did not name all the secret quiet beaches.... the only shot that is a bit out of focus, is the one at the Green Mango, did the camera have too much to drink??? That was actually on purpose. Since it's a buzy electrified place for the youngsters i tried to get the "boxes on the powerlines" in focus.
