Perhaps park at the reservoir! Samui's newest "watering hole", on the way up is opening on Saturday ! ..... There is quite a nice "swimming hole" which the bar owners have enlarged.... nice cool spot especially on a hot day! another view! samuijimmy
Well my picture taking of Samui beaches is a long work in progress .... Weather conditions don't always make for ideal shots.... Although as we know it's not always perfect! ...definitely not today! This is part of Chawang Beach taken in June 2010 At certain times of the year it can get quite rough.... and not suitable for swimming .... Watch for red flags and warning signs or use common sense! This was taken February 2013 There were warning signs and flags indicating not to swim .... Edited March 6, 2013 by samuijimmy
samuijimmy
One of what I think is one of the nicest beaches on Samui, and busier than one would think....yet you never hear anyone speak about it.... I only discovered this a few weeks ago, after being here over 5 years! Bang Po or Ban Por (depending on signs you read) ! located between Maenam and the Nathon Hill. As with many beaches around Samui (and sometimes KP) access points can be hard to find, unless you are staying at a resort.... This is a very long beach... with nice sand for the most part... restaurants and resorts from 5 star to no star! Nice for those who want a peaceful place to relax! Taken Feb 2013 ! One of the entrance points without having to go through a resort or restaurant. Near Bang Po village. Edited March 6, 2013 by samuijimmy
samuijimmy
Maenam Beach... another very long beach... this is taken at the west end, past the Lomprayah ferry terminal... Again a mix of 5 to no star resorts located all along the beach... sand varies from being fine to a little coarse.... but popular for those who want a quieter area to stay... Taken from the east side of the Centre of Maenam Village...(Feb) Still a bit more east Maenam Beach Sand a little finer here!
samuijimmy
Ban Tai beach (between Maenam and Ban Por... a quieter beach... parts have this rocky outcrops, other parts are nice sand... Not usually too crowded. Several resorts in the area.. Depending on tides, one may have to walk over the bluff ... It's a long step road to get to this! or else accessible from the main Ban Tai beach with a bit of a walk!
samuijimmy
Heading towards Lamai there is Crystal or Silver Bay.... a smaller beach which is quite popular. Two or maybe three resorts on the beach. (watch for sign for Yacht club and drive in there)
samuijimmy
Grand father and Grand Mother rocks, probably one of the most visited places on Samui! Very pleasant... Resorts and restaurants near by. Grandfather ! A better shot of this eludes me for the moment! Edited March 6, 2013 by samuijimmy
samuijimmy
Hau Thanon... AKA known as the Muslim Village. Sadly some of the area around here is a little more than messy! But if one can get over that and walk west along the beach, it does become quiet nice! Mosque in the village.
samuijimmy
Further around towards Taling Ngam, Laem Sor Beach. Usually quiet... One needs to seek the side roads to find some of these beaches... but most are quite nice! Tides are quite low from April to October... Yes.... there resorts in the area! Laem Sor beach.
samuijimmy
Waikiki beach !!! .... Not quite Honolulu style! Near Ban Khao beach Again there are resorts and a few restaurants in the area! Boy scouts and Girl Guides, happened to be having a camp out... when I was last there!
samuijimmy
Ban Ka Bay ( follow signs to Elements) Very pleasant and quite!
samuijimmy
Taling Ngam Village, sea front... sleepy village! But again a number of resorts in the area... Buffaloes can be seen on a number of beaches around the island! Enough for now~ ! Still quite a few more to post .... another day!
samuijimmy
OK a few more here! Laem Yai, near the Nathon hill, Nathon side. l....(Four Seasons) ... not one of the best areas, but it's a change of scene ! At low tide times you can walk around the whole point... Christmas all year at the local bar!
Popular Post samuijimmy
Some miscellaneous beach area views around Samui! Some are not easy to find... it's trial and error trying to find them! Some areas are docking areas for local fishing boats ... View of three of the Five Islands Good place to eat! Lipa Noi Beach Lipa Noi at start of start of sun set! Ban Por (smaller beach at base of Nathon Hill.) Bophut Beach, rather narrow and a little close to the road to Ban Rak...
Johpa
In honor of my daughter relocating to Samui for a few months to work at a luxury resort I could never afford, I give you one of my pics of entertainment on Saturday afternoon on Chaweng back when Saturday was the only day of the week that had electricity midday, in order that the locals could gather at the few spots that had a TV to watch muay thai. Between fights they would let the local fighting cocks go at each other. This was taken in the very early 1980s, I think at Sun East.
