Wrong on both counts.

Firstly. Thailand was 72,479 today.

Secondly, both are on their way up. In fact, UK is also rising since Feb 24.

Please check your facts before wasting my time. Thanks.

From Worldometer today:-

33 Thailand 3,111,857 +22,984

And from yesterday:-

33 Thailand 3,088,873 +22,073

(The figures highlighted in yellow are listed on their Web page as "New cases". Sorry if I'm wasting your time!

So having Covid doesn't count if you tested positive with ATK? Good to know.

And cases rising in the UK for the past 2 weeks doesn't really mean cases are rising? Also good to know.

It would appear that it is not I who is twisting the facts ????.

HK covid is out of control... while infections keep going up around the world but Thailand is special and needs a senseless festival...... just found out in my neighborhood infections keep going up as well and 12 people tested positive and went into quarantine last week end,  prior to that it appeared no infections were detected in the area

the ALL list is here to see

Did you really need all that room, and all those figures to try to prove your point?

if you don't/didn't like it why did you open it.... BTW did you took the time to think that maybe just maybe, what's irrelevant to you may be relevant to somebody else

I was only making what I thought was a relevant point, and anyway I didn't "open it" - I just looked at your post, and the figures appear automatically at the end! And by the way, I do have Worldometer as a saved site on my computer!

good for you, glad you do,  thus our numbers match and my post is in no way misleading, if I understand you correctly it's just too much info, my apologies

It was mentioned Two days ago that the final decision on whether Songkran will go ahead will be made on Fri. 18th March.

That is if anybody can afford fuel by then.:)

Diesel is still at a reasonable price. 31.15 baht/lt in rural Kamphaeng Phet yesterday.

Tiny %

You are correct, it is only a tiny % and nothing to care or worry about.

Unless the tiny % affects your family directly and then it becomes something to care and worry about.

Personally I don't care or worry if you get it as  to me you are just a poster on a website for farangs here in Thailand.

I do care if somebody like you gets Covid, and it affects my family and my friends, possibly my son gets it and infects his school mates, who in turn infect their families and their community.

The water parties and water fights are not an original part of what Songkran initially started out as.  The way it is now enacted is a sham and far from tradition, so where you come up with "Great news that the Thai's, especially the kids, will have one of their most famous celebrations back on the map again." is far from the truth.

The Songkran celebration is rich with symbolic traditions. Mornings begin with merit-making. Visiting local temples and offering food to the Buddhist monks is commonly practiced. On this specific occasion, performing water pouring on Buddha statues and the young and elderly is a traditional ritual, representing purification and the washing away of one's sins and bad luck.[4] As a festival of unity, people who have moved away usually return home to their loved ones and elders. Paying reverence to ancestors is an important part of Songkran tradition.

All the people i know ( including myself ) have had mild symptoms for 3-4 days ( sometimes less ).

Your hilarious. My neighbor is now battling his 3rd case of Covid since last June  and his wife was lucky and survived being on a respirator the same as my GFs 2 aunts.  Tell your self what you want to believe. Reality is different for many and its not the same for all.

The spokesperson stressed, however, that the public must strictly adhere to "VUCA" or Vaccine, Universal Prevention, COVID-Free Setting, and antigen test kit (ATK) precautions during celebrations.

I'm adhering to SAHAIS:
Stay At Home And Ignore Songkran

Stay at home and avoid the drama.

Folks think by my responses I stay locked up in my condo, but that's far from the truth.  We go out regularly and just returned from 5 weeks in the US. Tonight we are out enjoying live music. Doing things safely is always the way to do things and not throwing caution to the wind and just caring less like some folks seem to do. I hope Songkran is a blast for all, just not my cup of tea.

FYI,  been going to PI since 1967, spent months at a time between 2009 and 2018, traveled all over, diving including many trips to Borneo (very close) used to fly there from Clark in Angeles for 50 bucks round trip. (think you must use Manila now) did this to get my new stamp upon entry back to PI, just be sure to have an outward bound ticket from PI to anywhere which you can cancel or Borneo wont allow you on the plane back to PI.

About mugging........ walk strongly while in the street.  Dont let anyone touch you or try to talk to you. Dont fall for the "you know me Im one of the sercurity guards in your hotel". Dont go with anyone who says "I can take you to a better cheaper hotel".  When riding in a jeepney keep a hand in each of your pockets where you have valubles. In Manila stay away from the old red light district near the US embassy.  There is only one bar thats any good on P Borgues St. In Makati its named Rouges at the corner of P Borgues and Makati Ave.  Walk in the middle of the street at night if you dont see anyone around, and there is no traffic (rare)  Sabang used to be great until the Koreans took it over, and now since Covid its dead.  Angeles was great until around 2011, and keeps going downhill ever since.  I think Barretto Ave up from the old US Navy Base in Subic is still good. Davao is ok, but dont venture outside the city because of the Musilum terrorists there.  Dont ever go anywhere with a stranger.

Spoke with a lady yesterday.

She, her 2 kids and a friend drove down south.
They stayed 1 day in Prachuap Khiri Khan, 2 days in AoNang and 2 nights in Phuket.

They went to restaurants all around the place.
She and her friend went a bit partying in Phuket where all farangs hang out.

Now back home, her son has Covid since Monday.
Home quarantine.

Have they informed someone about where they have been? Probably not.

Does someone know that they have covid? Probably just a few people.

Are they in the daily figures of infections? Probably not.

Are they going to trace where my friend and family have been? Probably not.

It's ridiculous: 2 weeks ago, I went for 2 days to Pattaya. My daughter wanted to go to Terminal 21 to H&M but both floors were closed.
Deep cleaning as a customer was infected.

They could close down the whole country.
Most people will not even bother to tell anyone unless they get very sick.
