The CDC Department of Infectious Diseases (CDC) has announced that A/H9 (Influenza A/H9) bird flu has been transmitted to a one-year-old baby with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath, and has been treated at the Angkor Children’s Hospital in Siem Reap City. The CDC confirmed that the infant lived in Trapeang Run village in Siem Reap province. “We found cases of bird flu A / H9 in humans through the Ministry of Health’s pneumonia monitoring system,” the CDC said.

It added that the ministry officials had found dead chickens in the village in February, which tested positive for Influenza A/H9. The Ministry immediately sent officials from the department of infectious diseases to cooperate with the provincial emergency response team to investigate, prevent and control the spread of the virus.
